  Overall nice stay but stairs challenging

  Liked: Views were nice and it was a couple minute walk to the tram that takes you downtown. Was located in a nice residential area.

  Disliked: Stairs to the top are a very narrow width, narrow tread and few landings - winding around similar to a spiral staircase. No hairdryer - which the host pointed out was not listed in the things included but it never occurred to me to check. Charged an extra $30 fee once there to use the sofa bed, and then a $400 deposit via wire transfer - which cost us $27 to transfer (that’s in the very fine print at the bottom of the listing). Shower height was ok for us 5’8” but could get tough for anyone taller as the angle over the shower is extreme.

  A basic top floor apartment

  Liked: Good location in terms of ease of access to Amsterdam Central and the airport. Quiet location.

  Disliked: This is not a luxury penthouse. This is the 5th apartment in a block that is basic with poor DIY and it is in desperate need of maintenance ans cleaning. Leaking taps, evidence of leaks on wall, damaged carpets, stains etc. It is not seen as sold. Some of the facilities listed on booking.com are not factual...there's no gym, pool, 24hr security (other than locked doors) etc. There's a camera on the stairs to watch you. The host is passive aggressive at best. You're instructed how to carry your luggage to the apartment. It is a challenge. If you can't walk up four flights of narrow, winding stairs, where you need to hold onto banisters and occasionally avoid obstructions from other residents or walk in the dark because the communal lights don't come on, you can't access it. Carry on luggage is as much as you can get up there and you're told not to scratch any walls, when all the walls are in a terrible state of disrepair. I travelled with my dad, who's in his 70s and is fit, but didn't find the ascend or descend comfortable. It's not suitable for children. At check out I went up and down the stairs several times to take each carry on back out separately, the rubbish as instructed, our rucksacks and take a video of how we left it. I've stayed in many places and never been worried I won't get my deposit back, but I felt uncomfortable this stay because it felt like what they were selling was not what we were experiencing. We even had a guide to tell us how to write a booking.com review in a very tatty welcome folder and that boasted a 9/10 review from 2018! It's not great for two people needing two beds. You forfeit a sofa. I wanted to make it each night, but didn't dare thinking I'd be blamed for some kind of damage, so we had to chill out in the evening on the sofa bed to watch tv. There's a charge to use the sofa bed...

  Loved my stay here and would definitely book again!

  Liked: This is truly a beautiful apartment. My favorite thing was watching the flocks of feral green parrots in the treetops out the big bedroom windows right above the bed and seeing the changing skies over Amsterdam through the skylight. The bed was very comfortable as was all the other features in the apartment. The location is so ideal with a Metro line to Centraal and in easy walking distance to DePijp.

  Disliked: My stay unfortunately coincided with a heatwave which does create some challenges in a top story apartment. On the hottest days the apartment would have been uncomfortable to stay in during the heat of the day but I was out and about so managed to air it out at night with the numerous windows to stay comfortable.

  Liked: Spacious apartment in a good location - good for public transport, restaurants, etc. Owner responsive and helpful.

  Disliked: This is a penthouse, so there are stairs to climb, but these are steep and narrow.
