  Clean, simple stay in De pijp, Amsterdam

  Liked: Great, central location. Right next to 4 tram stop. Less than 30 mins from airport on public transit. Room was relatively spacious and comfortable. Liked all the counter space in the bathroom

  Great location, friendly staff, spacious rooms, but poor extractor fan!

  Liked: The hotel was clean and the reception staff were very helpful and friendly. Location was good! The free hotel wifi was very fast and the room was nice and spacious.

  Disliked: I messaged the hotel quite late one evening after having a shower, as I was concerned that the bathroom extractor fan wasn't working. To their credit, the hotel was very responsive and immediately offered to send someone to investigate. I explained that it wasn't urgent and that I was happy for someone to look at it the following day. Unfortunately, I think there may have been a miscommunication, as housekeeping knocked loudly on my door at 9 am the next morning. Having had a 12-hour journey the previous day, I had been looking forward to a relaxed morning in my pyjamas, so being woken up and having to hurriedly get dressed to answer the door wasn't particularly welcome! The housekeeper inspected the extractor and insisted that it was working, explaining that it was simply a silent model. However, my concern wasn't just the lack of noise. Even 10 hours after my shower, the bathroom was still incredibly damp, with condensation lingering on the mirror and moisture throughout the room. There was also a notice on the bathroom door warning guests that leaving it open could trigger the smoke alarm, so allowing the moisture to escape into the bedroom didn't seem to be an option. Either the extractor was technically working but wasn't sufficiently effective, or it wasn't functioning properly at all, which I suspect was the case given the complete lack of apparent airflow and how long the condensation persisted. This was particularly frustrating as I was staying at the hotel for several days of business meetings. Showering in the morning became impractical because the bathroom remained so humid afterwards, making it difficult to get ready. As someone with curly hair, trying to style it in a room full of lingering steam is something of a nightmare! I also found the bed exceptionally firm.
