Amazing stay in a historic house in a historic city!

Liked: Location was walkable to so much! Building is charming and I love the eclectic decor. Having the cocktail bar downstairs was actually calm and pleasant.

Disliked: Honestly the only downside is the stairs which were clearly described and non negotiable since the house was built in the 1700s. I was going to be away from home 3 weeks, and I packed my large bag for later in the trip and just had them store it downstairs for me.

Liked: Breakfast was delicious, the bed was so comfortable. Loved having coffee, tea, hot chocolate, drinks and snacks in the room. The decor was fabulous! The location was incredible, close to transportation, museums, tours, bars and restaurants.

Liked: Vibrant, attractive, happy bar feeling when I arrived. The staff immediately met me at the door and showed me to the room. The room was very comfortable, clean and well appointed. I had a normal room, not snug. It was right above the bar and was very quiet.

Disliked: The WiFi did not work. It had a suspicious certificate and my devices would not join it. Getting wifi fixed is a pain. I used lots of my data. It is not a hotel, but a bar with rooms. No real reception or staff for the hotel. Not a problem, but beware.

Liked: Incredible location, gracious hosts. The breakfast was top notch. It felt like a very niche experience. The furnishings were beautiful and the courtyard below was really peaceful. I would highly recommend it and will definitely return.

    Disliked: We couldn’t stay longer!

    Perfection!

Liked: It could not have been a better location and an amazing staff and rooms! The breakfast is farm to table and the craft cocktail bar downstairs is really special.

Disliked: The stairs to go to the rooms are steep but it is a canal house!

Would stay again but service could be better at this price point

Liked: Lovely room and an excellent location, so we would likely stay again, but the service doesn't match the nearly €400-a-night price. We stayed six nights in room 5, overlooking the canal. The room was genuinely lovely: big openable windows plus air conditioning, a very comfortable bed, and thoughtful touches like the included snacks. It sits at the top of a very steep flight of shallow stairs, but the staff carried our suitcases up and down without our having to ask, which we really appreciated. The location is so central we could reach almost everywhere on foot or by metro, and the breakfast was good, albeit repetitive over a stay this long. It's a pity that the service wasn't as good as the room. An airport transfer was advertised at €59, then quoted at €69 when I went to book it. I provided every detail requested, and no driver showed up; we took the train instead (which was easy enough that we took it again at the end of our stay). I emailed the owners about the no-show and never received a reply. On arrival, the greeting was cold and I was told brusquely, "You need to pay," which felt rude plus I had already checked in and paid in full en route. Over six nights we never met either owner, and no one asked how the stay was going or whether anything could be better. Many hotels offer WhatsApp contact with guests, which I've found very helpful for questions before and during a stay, but this one does not. Finally, we invited a friend for cocktails one evening and while they were good, they were expensive, and unfortunately there is no discount for guests.
