Very good
Will be back again
Liked: Location is perfect
Disliked: Carpeted rooms are hard to keep clean in a hotel, i appreciate that the provided slippers.
Lovely stay and super staff however as shortly the hotel has a refurbishment scheduled a few points as to how to make a
Liked: Excellent position allowing easy of access to the town and railway to Amsterdam and Leiden. Rooms facing the park were peaceful. Welcoming staff, Katya impressive as were bar and breakfast staff. Although no dinner service, only short walk into town and plenty of quick food places close by …. try Foodhall. Rooms were very clean and well serviced. Adequate storage but lacked a luggage rack so guest could more easily access the content of case rather than place on bed or floor! Despite the observation below we very much enjoyed our stay!
Disliked: The hotel does need some refurbishment although we quite like decor the interior designer of the current rooms need a course in guest management! The room lighting was badly thought through as gusts have zero control of main lighting…. each lamp should be guest determined. The main bedroom are was very dark on a cloudy day and needed brighter lighting tastefully done! The bathroom lighting was badly poorly positioned and made make up and contact lenses insertion difficult. There was no night light for bathroom a very difficult as totally dark unless floodlit with the existing bright lights…. and dangerous as abutting wall separating bath and toilet areas was easily bumped into! There were numerous ledges or shelves around the room and bed featuring sharp edges in areas where guests could bump into. When refurbishment takes place examine hard the use of space and guest convenience ….. also note the bedding slips off the current bed causing soft overhang and potentially resulting in falling…. we had to reposition several times during our stay!
A Catalogue of Failure - appalling customer service
Liked: Location It had a vacancy
Disliked: Catalogue of failures I booked this hotel stay when my flight from Schipol was cancelled at 11.30pm. Den Haag was the nearest vacant hotel. I arrived about 12.30pm with only my carry on bag wearing tropical clothes. The receptionist brusquely told me there was a power cut and hence not even water. No apology just an answer to my question that it was expected to end about 8am. My room was on the 9th floor and off course the lift was not working. I was however issued a feeble torch. The “non-smoking” room stank of fags. There was no drinking water supplied but fortunately I had a mouthful in a bottle. The toilet had one flush and after that became disgusting. Next morning I spoke to the receptionist and she agreed on a refund for the night and I booked an additional two nights until my rescheduled flight. I paid for the two breakfasts I would take and for the city tax. After a reminder the receptionist emailed me the receipt. I was allocated a fresh room. All ok I thought. Leaving at 5am two days later for my train I handed my keys to the night receptionist. He slowly and painfully struggled to read his computer screen. I was he stated due to pay for 4 breakfasts and city tax. I showed him the receipt for the breakfasts and tax I had paid but he just looked confused. He continued to insist that I had to pay another 70 or so Euros. What struck me was the complete lack of a customer service attitude. Eventually as time was running out I just left. He should have agreed to let me go and passed messages to day shift reception to sort out. However I felt I was treated as if I was a criminal. I then received several links and emails demanding payment. Eventually by the time I was returning home about 4 hours later the polite receptionist emailed to say the mistakes had been rectified with an apology. It will be interesting to see if I do eventually receive the promised refund via Booking.com.
Liked: The breakfast was amazing
Disliked: There were no face towels. Bathroom door handle was broken- fixed during our stay but still loose. The trash bins by the elevators were always full and not emptied daily.
Liked: Convenient location right next to the train station. Comfortable bed and nice view.
Leonardo hotels topping the list
Liked: Breakfast was excellent, nice spacious area and plenty choices of food, drinks and fruits. Excellent service of front desk personnel and friendly helpful housekeeping.
Disliked: No dinner service
