  Good value for money in a nice location

  A Lovely Stay

  Liked: Staying in this small, family run hotel was a nice change from larger hotel chains, which is why I picked it. The staff were friendly and everything was clean. We ate a nice breakfast each morning, and we had an evening meal on one of our two night stay. The pool is a good size for swimming, if a little cold, even in late summer. There is ample parking right outside and even though we arrived on a busy Sunday afternoon, we still managed to get a space (just).

  Disliked: The hotel is a little dated, but this is part of its charm, so it's not really something to dislike. The only negative thing for me was that my room had been liberally sprayed with perfumed air freshener, and I couldn't get rid of the smell. It was so strong that it gave me a headache and I could taste it for hours. I had both windows open, and I put the do not disturb sign on the door to avoid having the cleaner come in and spray it again. Although a minor issue, it could be a real problem for someone with allergies or breathing difficulties.

  Liked: Room cleanliness. Good breakfast. Peaceful location. Beautiful gardens.

  Disliked: Nice pool, but not clean. Poor restaurant evening meal, particularly vegetarian, only one and poor quality, yet expensive. Evening meal staff gave inaccurate information. Chipped wine glasses, and had to ask for cutlery.
