I don’t recommend this accommodation for healthy and safety reasons

Liked: Close to the central bus station, some malls and stores. it’s even closer to the railway station. I had to ask for some other blankets as a solution to cold and they delivered the specific double bed that is far better than the sofa (but it’s closer to the multiple sources of cold). a lot of appliances available furnished and equipped apartment I found some items (unavailable on the ad) there on my arrival like a kitchen beater There is no mechanical ventilation in the apartment, the combination of both cold and constant indoor humidity is very complicated to deal, it results in stuffiness, the only way to get fresh air is by opening the windows (the ceiling fan is not helping in any way for this problem but it’s bringing more cold even at lowest speed). Because of the same problem, it was impossible for me to dry any wet thing inside this apartment (furthermore, there is no proper specific towel rack; only one solution left: on the outside, with a small window drying rack on the false-balcony). Given the physical setting of the sharp angular structures and the narrowness, I had leg bruises at some point, mainly shins (even the most careful person will). There’s no way to avoid bumping yourself. It took me more than three months to heal and see bruises disappear. There is a significant furniture congestion when it comes laundry facilities (washing, drying). Unfortunately the delivered iron was scaled, even with demineralized water, it didn’t solve the problem, because I had a constant discharge of limescale grains on my clothes.

Disliked: They ruined my overall stay. I had: hot water outage cold this apartment that is not insulated at all neither from cold nor noise and is located in a noisy street and lack of trust and privacy I think the hosts’ way to communicate (always hours to answer me or to deal with any issue) is unsuited for the hospitality sector. They seemed polite in the beginning, there was no space for a (respectful) dialogue, they treated me aggressively and messaged me to boss me around. I was vulnerable on abroad (alone and as a woman). I’ve been very patient and I without aggressiveness even with terrible consequences for me of the hot water outage (that happened during a shower and I waited 10 hours to get it fixed) combined to indoor humidity and cold apartment. Unwelcoming, I notified the property my exact arrival time, but the house wasn’t ready, it was still being cleaned, I had to wait 20-30 minutes in the street. The neighborhood is very noisy (a lot of traffic noise, passersby, and sometimes loud drilling from the neighboring adjoining house at 10, 11 pm, I had complicated nights). It was also intimidating (old abandoned and padlocked houses, abandoned construction sites, and the very nearby square) The sofa is very hard to sit in and to sleep on, a lot of backaches but it is the furthest point from sources of cold. The fridge is noisy and whatever bed you use, you can stilll hear it. The cold inside this apartment is a serious matter (even during spring months of April and May). It’s the cold that could wake me up during the night (when it wasn’t not preventing me from sleeping).

This is a quiet flat in Portimão, away from crowds. Great for Summer. Okay for Winter

Disliked: The location is good for summer - out of the way from the crowds. in winter, it's too quiet and a bit too far from the Praia de Roche area. The furniture wasn't comfortable. There is a sofa hide-a-bed that is too uncomfortable to even sit on. The advertisement does say balcony, there isn't one. There is a hidden queen-mattress that you pull out every night - this is quite comfortable. However, watch where you step around it. the corners are sharp. I tore my shin and calf open a couple times. The apartment, like most in Portugal, is cold in winter, so the owner was kind enough to loan an electric heater. Secret for those coming in: keep the window open when the sun shines in during the day, it helps to warm the apartment, keeping it warmer until later in the evening. An electric blanket for sleeping might be the best solution here. Laundry is great! the stay is good, but not for long term. I had it for a month +. This one is good for a week, possibly two. certainly better for summer stay than winter.
