    Great hotel with friendly staff

Liked: The location was very good though nothing was in walking distance. Our room had a good view of the city across the river.

Disliked: We were allotted a room in the new block. We had to change two elevators and walk quite a distance to get to our room! Got lost couple of times.

Liked: The view of the river from the room.

Disliked: For a hotel that presents itself as one of Porto’s finest five-star luxury hotels, the overall experience fell far short of expectations, especially considering the extremely high price. Food and Room Service: A Major Disappointment One of the biggest disappointments was the food. For the price you pay to stay at The Yeatman, you would expect high-quality food that reflects the hotel’s luxury status. Instead, much of what was offered was mediocre, basic food, such as tuna sandwiches and other items that you could easily get from an ordinary takeaway. The breakfast room service was particularly disappointing. I ordered waffles expecting freshly prepared food, ideally made by a chef. Instead, I received prepackaged, shelf-stable waffles of the kind you can buy in a grocery store. To make matters worse, the hotel charged an additional €10 surcharge just to deliver this basic, non-fresh food to the room. My partner and I ended up having to go out and find our own food every day. This should not be necessary when staying at a hotel of this price and reputation. A luxury hotel should offer a dining experience that justifies the cost, not food that feels like something you would buy off a supermarket shelf. Poor Maintenance and an Unacceptable Lighting Issue The final night of our stay was especially frustrating. The lights in our room stopped working, so I called reception that evening. I was told that the issue would be fixed, but nobody came, leaving us to pack our luggage in the dark. The following morning, I contacted reception again, only for a different staff member to say they had not heard about the problem. The lights were finally fixed approximately ten minutes before we checked out at 7 a.m. Since it was still dark outside, there was no natural light coming through the windows, and we had to get ready and finish packing in the dark. For a hotel charging luxury prices, this level of communication and service is unacceptable.
