  Great for kids and adults alike

  Extremely disappointing service and unacceptable management response

  Disliked: I chose Alua Suites Fuerteventura specifically because it was advertised as a pet-friendly hotel. I informed the property in advance that I would be travelling with my 7 kg dog and received written confirmation that he was accepted. However, upon arrival, I was told that my dog was not allowed in any public areas and could only stay inside the room, with an additional charge of €50 per day. These restrictions had not been clearly communicated to me beforehand. The situation became even more unacceptable when I arrived at 12:00, three hours before check-in. Since my dog was not allowed in the hotel’s common areas and my room was not yet available, I was effectively left with nowhere to go and no access to the hotel facilities. I asked Airan at Reception for assistance and subsequently escalated the matter to Gemma, the manager. After approximately one hour of waiting, Gemma told me that I should have provided additional information about my dog, despite the fact that I had already declared his presence and received written confirmation of acceptance. When I showed her the documentation, her response was discourteous and entirely unhelpful. She told me that my only options were to sit on a chair outside the property or leave the hotel and go for a walk until 15:00. This is how a manager chose to handle a legitimate guest complaint. What disappointed me most was not simply the lack of clarity regarding the pet policy, but the complete absence of empathy, ownership and willingness to find a reasonable solution. I would have expected the staff to acknowledge the contradictory information and help resolve the situation, rather than making the guest bear the consequences of a communication failure. A hotel cannot advertise itself as pet-friendly, confirm acceptance of a pet and then leave its guests in this situation without a practical alternative. Even more disappointing is the way the issue was handled by the people responsible for resolving it.

  Liked: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner buffets, three swimming pools throughout the resort, and a snack bar that is open all day. The reception staff provides friendly and professional service.

  Won’t go back

  Liked: Rooms were a good size and well laid out. Very clean and comfortable. Food good.

  Disliked: Let down by Lack of sunbeds. Poorly staffed bars. Lack of management overseeing staff and ensuring staff aware of all inclusive drinks on the menu. Too few bar staff on duty and they tried their best. Food hall chaotic with little organisation.

  Very disappointing

  Liked: The staff member Ricardo is am absolute asset to the place and under valued for the work he does. The food is rotten. No real kids choice. The apartment isn't cleaned to a high standard.
