Fabulous
Total disregard of owners responsibilities
Liked: I do not usually write reviews, preferring to raise problems directly with management. However, my stay in room 84 on 17–18 October 2026 was sufficiently disappointing to warrant a detailed account. I am considering instituting legal action in this regard. The room became unbearably hot, and I left at around 4 a.m. by taxi because I could not activate the air conditioning and opening the window did not help. I had booked an overnight stay with breakfast but left before breakfast service. Before departing, I cut my left foot on the right bathroom’s marble countertop top while showering, causing it to bleed. The bathroom requires inspection. The bath/shower controls were also awkward: cold water sprayed onto me, and water leaked onto the floor. Other problems included loose cupboard shelves, an unusable or unexplained room telephone, and an empty water jug that could not fit beneath the basin tap. Charging my phone was difficult because I could not find suitable charging facilities or a USB outlet; another guest lent me a cable. The room’s controls and amenities were not adequately explained. Connecting to the Wi-Fi through Brave produced a security warning my data may be compromised, so I used my mobile data. Edgar later provided the correct access code, although the connection process was not straightforward. Drinks service was slow, due to the staff being overworked. It seems that the owners of the property are only interested in sucking the most out of the building which they lease from the Cabildo (the Flauva family had better be prepared for further action to be taken against them). The Cava was disappointing, and the entrance hand-sanitiser dispenser was empty. These issues suggested inadequate routine checks and attention to guests’ needs. My main concerns are that I could not remain comfortably overnight and sustained a foot injury in the bathroom.

Liked: Beautiful property ruined by poor staff attitude and maintenance While the Iberostar Hotel Mencey boasts an excellent location and a good, diverse breakfast, the overall experience was deeply disappointing for a 5-star establishment. Unprofessional Customer Service: • Front Desk: The reception staff appear to judge guests by their appearance. Because we prefer a casual, low-profile look, we felt looked down upon throughout our stay. • Breakfast Staff: Service was remarkably rude. When I mentioned that the coffee machine display was in a completely non-European language, a staff member snatched the cup from my hand and demanded to know what I wanted in a very unpleasant tone. When the coffee arrived, it was practically thrown onto our table. Room & Maintenance Shortfalls: • Air Conditioning: Outdated and semi-defective. I had to call maintenance just to learn how to trick the wall panel into providing a tiny amount of air. • Bedding & Amenities: No proper duvet cover was used (just sandwiched between two sheets). The bathroom had minor mold, and the hairdryer overheated and shut off every 2 minutes. Worse, the iron had melted fabric on the plate and ruined my clothes. Realistically, this hotel provides a 4-star experience masked behind a 5-star label. Management seriously needs to address staff training and room upkeep.
