What “pets allowed” means

Each hotel sets its own conditions. Many only accept small dogs, limit the number of animals per room or charge a supplement per night. Some don’t let pets stay alone in the room or go into the restaurant.

What to check before booking

Always say when you book that you are travelling with a pet and how big it is, and ask for written confirmation. Rural hotels and houses with a garden are usually the most comfortable with a dog; in a city, look for hotels near a park.
