  Beautiful views and facilities, but being asked to pay CHF 150–200 as a cleaning fee to move from our second-floor room

  Liked: The hotel has a wonderful location, beautiful mountain views and excellent facilities. The staff were friendly and welcoming.

  Disliked: We had requested a quiet room on a higher floor in advance, but our second-floor room was affected by noise. The hotel was full on arrival, so we returned to reception the next morning. A quieter room on the third floor was available, but we were asked to pay CHF 200 to move, later reduced to CHF 150. In my many years of staying in hotels, I have never encountered such a substantial charge to change rooms because of noise. I consider preparing another room part of normal hotel operations, and this policy made resolving our discomfort an additional financial burden. The room was cleaned, but the overall housekeeping experience lacked the fresh, refreshed feeling we expected. These issues affected our enjoyment of the stay.

  Nice place. Will be my first choice of stay if I visit Grindelwald again

  Liked: helpful staff, clean place and outstanding location of the hotel.

  Disliked: I have taken a non-smoking room, still, they allowed smoking in the balcony. I had a hard time with the smoking of adjacent rooms. I could not enjoy setting in the balcony neither open the balcony door while I am inside.
