Pleasant
Convenient, good price, for a budget hotel for a couple of nights
Liked: Hotel did not provide breakfast. Friendly staff, was able to park car on site for a reasonable price. We stayed in the family room. It was spacious, clean and warm.
Disliked: The lift was out of order, lots of stairs to climb. The place is dated and is in need of repair and carpets need to be renewed. The first room we were given was cold and damp, however the staff showed us many more rooms and the family room that we stayed in was fine, clean, warm and spacious and was great for a one night stay.
Liked: All Staff were kind and helpful, we requested extra time after checking out time and they agreed
Liked: I liked everything the room the location parking and the staff were brilliant like to tell me were everything is that I need for a week stay superb
Room served its purpose well
never again
Disliked: toilet didnt work, room smelled of cigarettes, car park was full despite paying for 2 days parking we then couldnt use
LIFE HARZARDS! BUGS IN THE BED AND UNACCEPTABLE CUSTOMER SERVICE — THINK TWICE BEFORE BOOKING!
Liked: AVOID! LIFE HAZARD
Disliked: My experience at Albany Hotel was absolutely unacceptable, and what happened after we left made the situation even worse. When we entered our original room, there was a strong smell of mould, so we requested to change rooms. Unfortunately, at approximately 10 p.m., we entered the replacement room and discovered a bug crawling on the bed. I have video evidence of this. Imagine paying for a hotel room, expecting basic cleanliness and hygiene, only to find a bug crawling where you are supposed to sleep. It was disgusting and extremely distressing. We were so upset that I rushed to leave the property and accidentally left my iPad behind. The following day, the hotel had not contacted me to tell me that my iPad had been found. I had to call them myself. During that call, I was initially told they would check and call me back. They later confirmed that they had my iPad. What happened when I went to collect my own property was even more concerning. I was asked to delete my review if I wanted to get my iPad back. I found this completely inappropriate. A guest should never feel pressured to remove an honest account of their experience in order to recover their own belongings. To make matters worse, the hotel said it would offer me only a 50% refund, despite the mould smell and the bug found crawling on the bed. I have still not received any refund. I paid £83.71 for accommodation that left me feeling uncomfortable and seriously concerned about its hygiene. This experience has raised serious concerns for me about both the hotel’s cleanliness and its treatment of customers. Finding a bug in your bed is bad enough, but the way the situation was handled afterwards made everything worse. I have video evidence of the bug and have raised a formal complaint with Booking.com. I am seeking a full refund of £83.71 and an investigation into how this matter was handled. My advice to other travellers: please read the reviews carefully before booking this property.
