Exceptional
Liked: The staff are really welcoming and helpful, the foyer, lounge and restaurant are fantastic, so tastefully decorated and comfortable. Our room was a good size and we had a bonus of two wardrobes!
Disliked: The corridors are very dark and drab and the rooms are a little tired, they could definitely do with a freshen up. For the size of the room the bathroom was tiny with not a lot of room around the sink to put toiletries.
Nice staff, Hotel is tired
Liked: Room and bathroom were clean and stocked well, comfortable and roomy bed, large Samsung TV with Freeview, staff are lovely.
Disliked: Room was tired, wallpaper peeling off, windows stiff to operate, air handling plant outside noisy, bathroom fan blocked until I fixed it, bathroom pokey and compact, windows face other rooms like prison, TV picture wasn't HD on a big screen, lifts between floors busy at all times made worst by one lift broken down, cobwebs in the halls, the working lift has camping lights and glow sticks hanging from the ceiling because the lights are failing. The footbridge is closed for repair so longer walk to the restaurants in the heavy weather.
Lovely stay in a city full of interest but undermined by inept hotel access advice
Liked: the location and facilities were excellent close to the waterfront and areas of interest. The waterway ferries were also great to get around the sights and decide where to go subsequently.
Disliked: The city centre road systems were horrific. We were directed by google maps and car sat nav into Bristol via M32 but access to the hotel from this direction was impossible. We went round in circles for over an hour constantly blocked by roadworks, one way systems, bus lanes, bus only access roads, none of which was evident from the wifi sites or advice from the hotel. Also, we were unaware that the city imposed clean air zones tariffs though these were not as bad as we expected when we checked on the government website later in the day. Thankfully, a friendly contractor advised us to use the app WAZE and this allowed us to pick a way to the hotel very quickly and without further problems. All city centre hotels should provide far more helpful advice on hotel directions and access.
Perfect in respects, all my needs were satisfied. 5 stars well earned by staff and Hotel
Liked: I booked the hotel online from Panama, knowing very little about Bristol. From start to finish the booking process was accurate and easy, my main reason for staying at the hotel was to attend the HMS Mermaid reunion, and found the hotel satisfied all my needs plus that of my daughter, who accompanied me to the event.
Disliked: Being unable to stay longer with my old friends as time was against me and I had to return to Panama. Iwas sorry we kept some of the staff working until the early hours looking after a large bunch of old sailors.
Liked: Great location and affordable Comfortable rooms.
Disliked: I thought that the food and drink was overpriced. I know its a Hotel but OTT price wise for me. Only having one lift working was inconvenient for upper floors.
Super comfortable luxury in great location for Bristol highlights
Liked: Breakfast is served in the restaurant overlooking the river/dock. Every type of diet is accommodated, food is in plentiful supply - help yourself. Waiting staff are diligent and very helpful.
Disliked: Buffet breakfasts are always going to be tricky, keeping food hot but not too dry is a delicate balancing act. I thoroughly enjoyed all my breakfasts but one of our party had a problem with the temperature of the scrambled eggs! You can't please everyone all the time!
