Fabulous
a lovely modern, clean, safe and friendly hostel in an amazing location
Liked: right in the heart of the mountains with easy access to lots of walks. Only a £10 taxi journey from Fort William and walking distance from a couple of pubs for dinner (one, The Ben Nevis Inn, was lovely and was a 20 minute walk along the river, which we did using a head torch!) The whole hostel was squeaky clean and the staff were very helpful.
Disliked: Nothing really. This felt much more like a hotel than a hostel and felt like amazing value. We were very happy.
Overall I have a very good stay in the hostel
Liked: Modern, clean and comfortable
Disliked: Heating was not turned on inside the dorm
excellent
Liked: big kitchen
Disliked: the bunk bed is just slightly too short
Great choice for a mountain syay
Liked: The kitchen was ample and comfortable, as well the common spaces. The location is great, with beautiful views. Very cozy mountain vibes, and the staff was super nice.
Disliked: Parking was already full, so we had to park on the road. We stayed in a twin room with a bathroom for ourselves, but the shower would get the whole floor wet.
Beautiful location and cozy rooms, but missing a social atmosphere
Liked: The location was perfect, and the surroundings were beautiful and peaceful. Waking up in the morning with a view of Ben Nevis was really special. The female dorm was cozy, and the beds were very comfortable. The kitchen, showers, downstairs lounge area, and other facilities were also good overall!
Disliked: The downstairs area around the fireplace is cozy, but the lighting is very bright throughout the space, which makes it feel less inviting. The overall atmosphere seems more focused on hikers and people who want to read or enjoy a quiet stay, rather than creating a cozy, social environment where solo travellers can meet and talk to each other. There is a space where you can read in silence, which is nice, but I felt there was no real common area where people could comfortably talk and connect with one another. Another thing to keep in mind is that the hostel closes every day from 10 am to 3 pm for cleaning. I didn't find this particularly convenient, you can still get inside with your room key, as there aren't many places to sit and relax apart from your bed. For example, on a rainy day, it would be nice to have the option to stay inside and enjoy the hostel. It would be great if the hostel could remain open during those hours, even if only one common area were accessible, so guests could make lunch, relax, or simply spend some time indoors. Overall, I really enjoyed the location and the comfort of the accommodation, but I would have appreciated a more inviting social atmosphere and a little more flexibility for guests who prefer to spend time at the hostel during the day.
Liked: One of the best Youth hostel that I visited in my life. The lounge with the couches and fire stove is cozy and the kitchen is modern and fully equiped. The hostel is right in front of Ben Nevis trail.
Disliked: A bit expensive
