  Fantastic value for money, a great location and everything you need for a comfortable stay

  Liked: Exceptional value for money! The hotel was very affordable, especially considering its fantastic location in the Northern Quarter. You're surrounded by amazing pubs (Crown & Kettle being a personal favourite), and Mackie Mayor, an excellent food hall, is just next door. The fact that a decent, complimentary breakfast is included at this price is an amazing bonus.

  Disliked: The building and interiors are a little dated and could do with some freshening up, so the hotel feels slightly tired in places. However, everything was perfectly decent and well maintained, especially considering the price. It's really not something that would put me off staying here again.

  Would not stay again

  Liked: We have stayed here several times and we love the location. But this stay will be our last.

  Disliked: As mentioned, we stay at this hotel every time we visit Manchester, but unfortunately, our last stay was far from satisfactory. This experience has completely put us off returning. The air conditioning in our room was broken, and having read other reviews during our stay, this seems to be an ongoing issue at the hotel. When we entered the room, it was extremely hot and humid, with a strong smell of damp. We called reception to request another room and were told someone would call us back as soon as possible. However, 20 minutes passed without any call, so I went down to reception myself, only to find the staff chatting amongst themselves before attempting to address the issue. Unfortunately, the hotel was fully booked, so we understand that an equivalent room wasn’t available. However, the only alternative offered was a fan, which did little to resolve the problem. To make matters worse, the room was very dirty, and the shower was in a poor state, with black mould present. The extractor fan also wasn’t working, which only added to our concerns. Overall, the hotel is in desperate need of some care, attention and proper maintenance. It’s disappointing to see standards decline so much, especially when we’ve chosen to stay here on every visit to Manchester. Sadly, after this experience, we won’t be returning.

  Modern hotel

  Liked: Loved it! Perfect location for the purposes of my trip. Very comfortable bed, everything was clean and modern + the staff was great.

  Disliked: Breakfast - would have happily paid less for the hotel and not have breakfast. I'm a vegetarian with a wheat allergy so I basically had nothing to eat there, just yoghurt.
