Disliked: Staff were non engaging, reception and bar, it was very quiet at the time so can’t say due to being busy! When I got into bed noticed the pillow had blood on it, not on the pillow case itself but the pillow, no doubt one of the cleaners took the cover off but really should have removed the whole pillow? Walls scruffy where they had been scuffed previously

Not the anniversary treat I'd hoped for, and the ghosts didn't help

Liked: Location was good. Glad I only paid the extortionate mid-week rate and not the criminally high weekend rate.

Disliked: Not sure how they have the nerve to call this a Malmaison. Felt more like an overspill block with a Malmaison badge on it. The nearest Car Park was miles away. When I asked the receptionist about parking and any discount he said he there was no point in asking him any questions because he didn't know anything about Manchester or the hotel because he'd just arrived from another hotel. I ended up with a parking ticket at the car park I used because I mistakenly thought it was a partner and I could pay on exit. The rooftop restaurant and bar were closed. I called down to reception and despite hanging on there was no answer. The room seemed incredibly dusty with almost a smoke effect under the downlights. There's a mural on the room's ceiling which looks like ghostly figures watching down on you in the half-light after the lights are off. The fire alarm went off in the morning. We paid for a "city view" which meant we were woken up by the scaffolders across the road working on Manchester Town Hall. I'd stayed at a Malmaison a few years ago and thought this would be a treat for our anniversary. It wasn't.

It’s a quirky hotel but unsure if the price is worth it

Liked: It’s very eccentric with mood lighting. I very much liked the shower as it was very thought out with the fact that the settings for the shower is away from the shower head so you don’t get wet!

Disliked: Went down for breakfast and although I paid an expensive price to stay at the hotel, I don’t expect to make my own coffee using the coffee pods (those coffee machine which makes 2 coffees) before you need to ask the staff to fill the water!!
