Liked: It is a great honour that this is the hotel where the author, Mrs Potter, first stayed when she visited Hill Top all those years ago. She went on to stay here on numerous occasions, which makes for a truly wonderful experience for fans of Peter Rabbit. On the day of my departure, I booked a taxi. As I was setting off quite early, I arrived at the restaurant 15 minutes before breakfast began. When Richard—who is both the innkeeper and the chef—realised I was leaving early, he went out of his way to prepare hot porridge, toast and a few other items for me to enjoy. Thank you so much! I hope to have the chance to visit you again next time.

    Disappointed

Liked: Unfortunately we didn’t stay the night as intended as the standard were so poor we left despite paying over £200 for the night.. It was our wedding anniversary and we were looking forward to dinner bed and breakfast at a country house hotel. The lady owner we met was warm and friendly. However the place was very tired and shabby. Not what we expected at all and certainly not at the rating given on here. Just not to our taste at all

Disliked: Good location Nice staff member lady on arrival

Wonderful tranquility, great hosts, fantastic food

Liked: Hospitality is top notch from Richard, Angela, Sharon and the rest of the team. The food is delicious, especially breakfast, with a feast of different items to choose from. The evening meals, whilst a bit pricey are good value for the quality. The views from the property are wonderful, across to the nearby lake and mountains.
