    Comfortable stay

Liked: Wonderful staff Good hearty breakfast Service with a smile Very comfortable beds

Disliked: We booked a superior room and unfortunately it had no view except a skip and the emergency exit. This is room 1 (buttermere). It was noisy of a morning and late at night so is not an ideal room if you need a quiet/relaxing stay. It should be a cheaper room in my opinion.

    Below expectations

Liked: Nice views, good breakfast, welcoming staff at reception and helpful staff in general.

Disliked: It’s over-advertised itself. It’s not 4-star accommodation. Just a relatively comfortable, relatively clean bnb with some housekeeping but not the level of housekeeping or in-room facilities that u would expect at even a 3-4 star hotel. For example, there is no fridge or phone in the room. Housekeeping is just general tidying up, coffee etc in the room is not replenished daily, not all towels are changed even when requested. Staff was helpful, they are just expected to do too much. The hotel should charge less. It’s overpriced and over reliant on too few employees to make up the difference between expectations for the price and the actual experience.

    Just a wonderful place!

Liked: Everything! I was looking for a stop over for a drive from the north of Scotland to the South East. Didn’t need anything fancy and the area of this hotel was about half way. The reviews were good and it is a real gem! The staff are lovely, has a great country house charm, good food and a beautiful location. The gardens are stunning! The weather was pretty miserable during our stay, but can imagine sitting outside in the stunning gardens on a nice day. I can’t recommend enough and will definitely come back.
