The service staff were warm and friendly. Truly 5 star service. Wished housekeeping were as good

Liked: Quiet. Great view on a sunny day and wonderful breakfast

Disliked: Housekeeping can be more thorough. Bed linen was stained but staff did not notice and did not change it. Drinking water was not replenished automatically. Had to request for bottled water and reminded staff to bring to room. Used glasses and spoon were not washed

Fabulous hotel, great location and views over Windermere

Liked: Excellent breakfast, a real pleasure. Main restaurant was closed for the week but their second restaurant was superb. Staff were amazing, friendly but not intrusive. Location is superb and views from the breakfast/dining room were breath-taking (it helped that we probably had the hottest week in living memory!). Highly recommended, we will return.

Disliked: TV tech is somewhat outdated and confusing, we needed help to get it going. Coffee/tea not refilled daily without our requesting it. Some noise from adjoining room, not unbearable.

Stunning Views, Wonderful Staff and a Standout Wine List

Liked: A beautiful, unassuming and wonderfully charming hotel nestled above Lake Windermere. Ours was a very last-minute booking, but we were so pleased we decided to stay. From the moment we arrived, the staff were fantastic. A particular mention must go to Andrew on reception, who was incredibly accommodating in helping to arrange our helicopter landing and gave us such a warm welcome on arrival. Rebecca was another real highlight. Her depth of knowledge and passion for wine was brilliant, and if you are a wine lover, The Samling is absolutely worth visiting for this alone. The wine list is genuinely memorable; the sort of selection and depth you don’t often find outside of some of London’s best hotels and restaurants…and it is clear that the team are genuinely passionate about what they do. The rooms are good value and the dining is very good, but for us the real highlights were the breathtaking views across the Lake District, the charming and highly personable staff, and that exceptional wine offering. The Samling manages to feel intimate, relaxed and special without ever being overly formal or pretentious. A wonderfully memorable stay and somewhere we would happily return to. Very much worth a visit.
