  Unsatisfactory level of cleanliness in the kitchen and dining area. Very disappointed

  Disliked: Update after owner response - 19.8.26, 15.43: my review is factual and true. Never needed to write a low score review before. See my other reviews - all pet friendly. Initial review only uploaded 4 photos. All photos uploaded again to confirm facts. Review response is unprofessional and sarcastic. Lodge advertises as pet friendly. We refute the comment 'left in a genuinely disgusting state' - untrue. Original review: Extremely disappointed, unsatisfactory level of cleanliness in the kitchen, dining area and a broken toilet seat. Dusty, grubby surfaces visible throughout, including skirting boards, picture frames, tiled ledges. Far below the standard expected of a 9–10 star rated lodge. On arrival dining table had dried curry marks and rice left across the surface, whole table was not wiped. Bathroom toilet seat was attached by only one fixing & unstable (later noticed reviews from 2025 citing same issue). Cooker hood was thick with grease, stained and in need of a full clean and filter replacement. Cupboard doors & handles were sticky, external cooker hood unit covered with a mix of fat and dust to touch. Contacted Anne‑Marie immediately explaining we were not willing to stay in the lodge in its current condition. I did not expect to need to purchase cleaning products (lodge products were not good quality) and clean these areas myself. I sent requested photos (11) via text and whatsapp. Not acknowledged by owner. Offer to send the cleaner the next day at 1pm. Declined as stay would be disrupted by a second clean from the same person. We were offered a refund if we chose to leave. During call there was a family bereavement so I ended the conversation respectfully. Spent 2 hours cleaning. Chose to stay due to two pre‑booked activities (non refundable). Requested refund for first night due to the inconvenience and poor cleanliness, but this was declined. No offer to even refund cleaning items. No remote for the bedroom TV. We would not stay...

  Lovely and comfortable

  Liked: We had a lovely stay at V+B Hygge. It was really easy to get to and super clean. The host gave us clear instructions prior to arriving which was really helpful! The kitchen is well equipped if you want to cook there. I would definitely recommend! One of the rooms has an en-suite bathroom and the other room has a bathroom next to it.
