  BED BUGS!!!!

  Disliked: **BED BUGS!!! AVOID THIS HOTEL!** We suffered numerous horrible bites all over our bodies due to bed bugs in the hotel bed. Unfortunately, we only discovered the bed bugs on the second night of our stay, by which point we had already been bitten quite badly and were checking out (bites can often take over 24 hours to show up). We raised the issue with the hotel on check-out and showed them evidence of the bugs. The staff member we spoke to advised us to email management (and to be clear, this is no reflection on the individual staff member, who was simply doing their job). We followed this advice but have now received absolutely no response. We have also raised a complaint through Booking.com who have also contact the property and heard nothing back. **PLEASE DO YOUR RESEARCH BEFORE BOOKING.** We wish we had checked the other reviews more carefully, as we have since found numerous other complaints mentioning bed bugs on Booking.com and Google reviews. Had we seen these beforehand, we would never have booked this hotel. I would strongly advise others to read the reviews carefully and think twice before staying here, until they have sorted out this issue.

  If looking for unusual lodging experience lined up w/ destination - this is your spot

  Liked: Really cool set up, barge is on working canal so you get the full-on experience of Bruges. Very close to the city center, about 15-20min walk, very convenient. Staff was very friendly & eager to help.

  Disliked: A bit worn out, but property was neat & clean.

  Brilliant location and a quirky place to stay

  Liked: Perfect location and very friendly staff. The beds were very comfortable. Really liked the honesty bar as well, it felt like a very welcoming and friendly place.

  A charming old barge which has seen better days, pleasant but in poor condition

  Liked: I have stayed at this hotel before, and stayed there again because it's a convenient location and reasonably affordable. Staying in a boat on a canal is appealing, the hotel has its charm, and the location is peaceful and quiet. The room was decently sized and comfortable. While the reception isn't staffed at all times, the staff were able to accommodate me arriving later than expected. When I had a problem with my room, the staff dealt with it and fixed it quickly.

  Disliked: The barge is old, and parts of the rooms are clearly in need of repair and cleaning. There are shelves that are not securely attached, and the door came off the shower while I was using it. My room had a dusty storage cupboard which had probably not been cleaned for some time. The lighting is somewhat limited, and does not work quite as expected. Most concerningly, friends staying at the same time (though not me) found bed bugs in their rooms, which suggests that standards of hygiene are not being properly maintained.
