Good
Liked: Beautiful architecture, inside and out. Big room. Good breakfast. Very lovely and helpful staff.
Disliked: My room was facing the street and the port and was not soundproof, which made it very noisy. Definitely bring earplugs and sleeping mask if you are sensitive to noise and light.
Price to high for the quality you get
Liked: It is a convenient location for where I need to be. Otherwise, I wouldn’t stay there for fun
Disliked: It is a bit smelly in the room and hallways and many things are very worn. It is in need of some renovation. Also, it wasn’t very clean. Spiderwebs in the bathroom and stains in the floor.
Liked: Lovely hotel. Very relaxing
Disliked: The restaurant was a but odd. The service was veery slow. Some of the dishes were a bit odd
Liked: The room was OK. Bed slept fine. Overall the facilities were ok. Good that there is sauna and swimming pool for relaxation.
Disliked: The sink in our room was completely clogged and even we talked about it to staff, nothing got fixed. Shower head was broken and leaked. Breakfast was okish, but I would expect to have some vegetables and salats - for both days we stayed there only fresh vegetable available was guacamole... For the price you pay for breakfast I would expect more. Even at the reception the person told me that maximum amount for parking would be 10 euros if we do not drive out the parking place, at the end, it was still more since the car stayed longer in space. Overall the parking situation is not really clear and it seems like an extra thing to get money.
Somewhere we love to stay
Liked: The general atmosphere and our rooms; the breakfast and restaurant - the kind attention to detail and the nice bar staff. There's also the sweet garden area where you can have a drink and the whole place is surrounded by trees. It's a lovely place to stay and although, as long-time regulars to Spa we also enjoy staying in the town itself on some trips as it's always busy with markets etc... on others Balmoral suits us very well to relax and unwind and easy to get to the Thermes which is a short drive down the road.
Disliked: We like everything.
