  Did Not Meet Our Expectations

  Liked: 7/10 just. 2 nights in room 514 from Sunday 18 October. We arrived after near 48 hrs of world travel. In a good location to walk to the Eiffel Tower and also the Arc de Triumph. A helpful and professional young lady then at the initial and ongoing check-in. Not her cause; BUT our room was not then available later at the official check-in time of 15:00. The excuse was that many other guests had been slow to check out and the cleaners could not get to our room until after 16:00. The bigger solution in part, to be more customer focused, would be to then employ more cleaners; when you know that the hotel occupancy has routinely been 100%. Our room was clean when we finally entered at 16:20. The empathetic young lady as above, had then offered free breakfasts, which was valued; but we had just bought our own breakfast supplies, while having the enforced wait. She then offered free access to the otherwise pay to use clothes washing machines x2 and the 2 driers down in the shared area. Access to these after travelling now for 7 weeks was a key reason we booked here. We had paid $$ for one of the larger = 34 m² rooms that then hopefully had a ‘bigger’ kitchen; BUT the actual kitchen set up is quite poor. There is only a 2 burner hotplate and a small, supposedly convection + microwave oven that we could not get to fully work ie no overhead grilling and the turntable did not ever turn. Why not supply instructions for this oven OR routinely check that the device is fully operational? No salt, no pepper, no cooking oil, no UHT milk or coffee creamer, no paper towel, nor indeed even facial tissues, no cling wrap, no alfoil and no toaster. BUT there are 8 huge plates supplied that are too big to go into the small dishwasher AND 8 medium sized plates. Why so many plates in an otherwise inadequate kitchen space?

  Disliked: Continued from above: We have stayed at several Citadines hotels around the world and the std of the kitchen here was way below the usual and thus our expected stds. Home cooking, which was the other reason we booked here, was thus mostly too hard. The queen double bed was firm and comfortable and my pre-requests for a higher, rear room and with firmer pillows were actually met. The free to access coffee machine, down near the wait area is a plus. The in room safe could not be set to actually lock. Why not have this as a handover check by the cleaning staff? The stay is expensive at €410 per night (in mid-Oct) for what is actually supplied. Smaller room options we knew, were quite small too; and I can now guess what the std of their kitchens would be too. The shower screen wet the floor a lot. Is it now missing the bottom, flexible seal? Time for management to properly audit their rooms for such issues IF readers of these reviews are to keep considering booking this stay. We stay approx 100 nights / year around the world and I would now not fully recommend staying here. Find a hotel with a higher care factor.

  expensive for a substandard stay

  Liked: The location of the hotel was very good, very central to most places in central Paris. Wasn't the best in value for what we paid. Very tired looking rooms, very basic. The breakfast wasn't too bad either, and the lovely lady was very helpful and friendly and made us extra scrambled eggs which were yummy!

  Disliked: Our two bedroom apartment, only had one toilet which didn't make sense if you have two bedrooms. There were two separate bathrooms though, one very small shower cubicle and another with a bath tub which got blocked. The smaller shower cubicle has a leakage issue and water leaked out into the hallway! The AC units although we didn't use them were for some reason really noisy, all you could hear was water flow in the pipes all night. Not all of the TV's worked and we had to find our own extra towels and pillow which we were told to go to 5th floor and help ourselves, plus we had no handwashing's in the toilet. I know these are generally small issues but together they are annoying and make you wonder why we have paid almost 4 star costs for an almost 2 star stay.
