Good
Excellent hotel in a wonderful location
Liked: The location was excellent, with free parking, right next to Neuschwanstein Castle. This permitted us to have a tour of the castle at 9:00 in the morning, walk up past Marienbrucke (bridge), and then drive down to Hohenschwangau, walk around Alpsee, and have a tour of Hohenschwangau towards the end of the afternoon. The staff were very friendly and helpful and our room with an ensuite was very nice.
Disliked: It would have been nice if the restaurant was open in the evening and served dinner, but it closes at 17:00.
Liked: Cornell and the rest of the staff were very welcoming. Cornell even arranged a shuttle to help my parents get up the hill for our castle tour. It was our most memorable stay for our visit to Germany.
It’s about the castle not the accom
Liked: If you’re after the castle and only the castle this is the place to stay.
Disliked: Dinner closes at 6pm. Breakfast doesn’t start until 0830am. No access to any food nor vending machines for food.
Magical
Liked: Such a great location! Charming. I messed up our dates and they were super accommodations.
Disliked: A little tired.
expensive, have to climb 20-minute up there. staff very unfriendly, room very small, only shared WC
Liked: offer towels
Disliked: The price was extremely high. When I stayed here two years ago, it cost just over €90 per night, but now the price has increased to €150. The reception was handled by a restaurant waiter who struggled to communicate in German and was rather unfriendly. He left me waiting for 10 minutes while he went to take restaurant orders. Although I booked the same type of double room as before, the room I received this time was so cramped that the door couldn't even open fully because it hit the bed. At breakfast, guests were not allowed to sit by the window. Instead, the staff assigned seats. When I ordered a hot chocolate, the waiter handled it so clumsily that chocolate powder ended up all over the tray. The property is located up on a mountain, so reaching it requires a 30-minute uphill walk. Alternatively, you can take a horse-drawn carriage up and then walk another five minutes. There is no private bathroom. Guests have to share communal toilets and showers.
Liked: I could see the Neuschwanstein Castle from my room, partially obscured by trees but still very cool. Were able to have breakfast (included) and walk up to the castle for the first tour of the day.
Disliked: The room was a little bit tight. The bed was so close to the door that it would hit the frame if it swung too far open. But the right amount of space for 2 people for one night
