Liked: We were given very clear instructions as to how to obtain the keys seeing as we were scheduled to arrive after midnight and it was helpful to be able to get into the property without any fuss. We were aware that the studio was rather small but it had nearly everything you may need for a short stay. The location is excellent and it was easy to pop back for a quick rest, drop off a few things and then carry on discovering Chania. Though it is very centrally located the place is very quiet at night though the same cannot be said about guests as walls are rather thin and some are not actual brick walls. All in all, I think it was good value for money.

Disliked: As I have already mentioned, the place is not very sound proof and in Room 1 where we stayed there are two doors, one main door to the room and another leading straight onto a back alley. At times there were extreme amounts of noise, usually neighbours shouting down a phone for over half an hour during the day or husbands in their underwear having violent quarrels with their wives in juicy Greek late at night. All this is happening right outside your window (in the door) or just under it. There is not enough natural light and the bathroom is pretty cramped. Also, the lock on the main door was old fashioned and quaint which we found very charming. However, and even though Chania feels very safe, the main door did not make you feel very safe since we felt that if anyone gave it a harder push or tripped on the last stair on their way up they'd have been straight through that door and on top of you in bed. We were there for three nights so we did not find any of this too much of a problem though I imagine it would have been had we booked it for a longer stay.

    Not impressed

    Liked: Location was fine

Disliked: Very small room. Bed positioned so that the window when opened interfered with bedframe. Noise from street. It was as if the sound of even people walking by was lead directly into the room. We arrived at 2.30 am due to flight, and we didn’t know which room was ours. We had to try open the doors to find out where it would open. Obviously not a good solution, but eventually we found an unlocked door. I had made inquiry about getting in at such a late check in but had only got instructions regarding the front door and a keybox code, thus leaving us clueless to which room was booked for us. The interior was at best “vintage”. Not impressed

A pleasant, quiet night in central old town of Xania

Liked: Its position in relation to port,in an old, busy but surprisingly quiet pedestrian street.A very comfortable bed and pleasant room with fridge and kettle

Disliked: I was have preferred to have met the proprietor on arrival. But his instructions for entering the property were clear and everything worked out ok
