Exceptional

Liked: This is a beautiful property. The location is superb, the decor is exceptional and overall it is a lovely place to stay. Hosts were very obliging as far as providing clean towels when requested and also bottles of water and removal of rubbish.
Disliked: Difficult access with very steep stairs, but the hosts were extremely accommodating with helping with our luggage when we arrived and when we left. Unpleasant that you can't flush toilet paper, and host would ideally empty the bins each day and also provide clean towels every day or every second day without needing to ask for them, given the very expensive Rates.

BEWARE - Severe sewage smell, material deficiencies undisclosed in the listing, signs of neglect
Disliked: My husband and I booked a 4-night stay during our “babymoon” based on the positive reviews. Unfortunately, our experience was unacceptable and we left 2 nights early. We’re surprised some of the issues we faced are not more prominent in the reviews. Our primary issue was a severe sewage smell from both bathrooms that spread throughout the apartment and prevented us from using most of it. We notified the host, Silvia, immediately, who visited the apartment, acknowledged the smell, attempted to mask it with detergent, and offered to refund the remaining nights if the issue persisted so we could seek accommodation elsewhere. The smell continued and the attempted remedy added a strong chemical odour. Given my pregnancy, this was concerning. We politely notified Silvia the next morning that the sewage smell had worsened. She and her husband arrived, though her demeanour had changed. She dismissed our concerns, made aggressive remarks, and refused to honour her documented refund commitment, which came across as dishonest. We left immediately and had to secure alternative accommodation for our remaining 2 nights in Ortigia at additional expense. Additionally, had we been aware of the following, we would not have booked. On arrival, Silvia requested we sign a separate undisclosed legal rental agreement. She also instructed us not to flush used toilet paper, but to bag it and bring it downstairs for disposal. Signs above both toilets prohibit flushing paper, a restriction absent from the listing photos. This is a major inconvenience, not to mention unhygienic. Signs of neglect include the primary balcony that was covered in old bird droppings, making it unpleasant and unhygienic, and torn insect screens that prevented leaving windows open. While a matter of personal preference, the apartment is located on a busy corner that can get noisy. Silvia does however provide ear plugs on arrival. Based on our stay, we strongly recommend avoiding this property.
Beautiful appartment in a fabulous location. Very clean and comfortable
Liked: Location was fantastic, beautiful and popular, picturesque. Overlooking harbour and an inland spring. Very photogenic location. Silvia our host was delightful and on hand to help out with any suggestions and recommendations. Making for a memorable experience. Beds were so comfortable with chrisp linen.
Disliked: There isn’t a washing machine but there is a laundromat nearby. But the lounge room is very nice.
Exceptional and memorable
Liked: This apartment is stunning and the attention to detail is exceptional. Silvia has thought of everything that guests might need, making it a very comfortable stay. It's in a great location with everything on your doorstep. Silvia is a fantastic and extremely kind host, on hand to help with anything. We highly recommend staying here.
Disliked: This isn't a negative, more for info. Although there isn't washing machine, there is a useful clothes rack that hangs off the balcony so it's really easy to dry any handwashing.
Whenever I come back to Ortigia I hope this place is available - it was that perfect!
Liked: The hospitality was incredible - Silvia is the best host! Very attentive and thought of every detail to ensure we had the comforts of home! The location is perfect right in the middle of everything and you wake up to the sea!!! Incredible!
Disliked: There were a lot of steps - understandable so you can look over the sea from the balcony.
