Fabulous
My stay was short - I would stay here again
Liked: I loved the decor especially and the breakfast
Disliked: I was surprised there’s wasn’t a comfortable sitting area in the front of the reception area - I think the jacuzzi area could have been better used for a comfortable relaxing area to sit
Liked: Dar Baladin is in a very central location. Housekeeping came 3 out of the 4 days we were there. Felix met us and showed us around the apartment and gave us useful suggestions. The problem we had with the electricity was sorted out very quickly by a helpful maintenance person. The showers had plenty of hot water.
Disliked: Dar Baladin is in serious need of attention and maintenance to merit Booking's quality rating of 'fabulous'. Problems we encountered have been mentioned in previous reviews. There are some tired and partially broken items in the bedrooms. The roof terrace is totally unloved with a partially broken table and old furniture which should be removed. Old seagull droppings showed further lack of attention. We were two people (one per room) so we didn't mind small duvets or only one lamp on one side of the bed but it would be a problem for couples. The proximity of the bed to the wall in the first floor bedroom would make it hard for anybody with mobility problems which brings me to the stairs. The layout of Dar Baladin (on 5 levels) did not bother us and we appreciated that this is part of the historical nature of the building. We were fine with the stairs. However, it needs to very clear on the Booking website that this property is not suitable for people who cannot manage stairs and it is certainly not suitable for people with small children. The stairs up to the terrace were particularly steep. We were only alerted to the stairs once we had booked with a message which came with the confirmation. Inside the kitchen cupboards, there was an overwhelming smell of damp and must. It also looked quite unsavoury. This was not anything to do with humidity mentioned which we knew about in advance. There was an old sponge and stained tea towel which need to be replaced. Dar Baladin has been redecorated and modernised at some stage and there are some nice touches but it has not been maintained or overseen and this is a shame. I am not happy to give this feedback and I hope Dar Baladin will get the attention it deserves
An excellent location for a visit which was clean and well serviced in the heart of the old Medina
Liked: The location was great and management were very helpful and accommodating. It was very clean and nicely decorated.
Disliked: Just a couple of small points that can be easily fixed..The terrace needed some TLC and the kitchen was short on serving dishes/salad bowls for cooking. Also we would have welcomed a bigger frying pan!
Liked: Lovely place to stay in center of town. Tastefully furnished and Easy access and parking is available just outside of Medina.
Disliked: Lots of steps but for that one has a pleasant roof top terrace.
Liked: Really enjoyed our stay. Would highly recommend for location and facilities. Lovely welcome from host thank you Marwa. Nice new table and chairs on roof terrace.
Liked: Big an pretty rooms. Nice staff.
Disliked: It was very cold and there was mold in the second bedroom. Also it wasn‘t very tidy.
