  Rude stuff, Very disappointing experience – misleading information and hidden costs

  Disliked: Very disappointing experience – misleading information and hidden costs This was one of the most disappointing hotel experiences we’ve had in a long time. Honestly, it felt like a scam. We booked DoubleTree by Hilton Rotterdam Centre specifically because Booking.com listed a swimming pool among the hotel facilities and included pictures of it. However, upon arrival, we discovered that the hotel does not actually have a swimming pool. Initially, the staff acted as if they didn’t know why a swimming pool was advertised on their Booking.com page. Eventually, they explained that the pool belongs to a completely separate neighbouring hotel. To use it, we would have to leave our hotel and pay an additional €15 per person. This information is extremely misleading. Nowhere is it clearly explained that the pool is not actually part of the hotel. We specifically chose this hotel because of the swimming pool, so discovering this only after arrival was extremely frustrating. The parking situation was equally disappointing. The hotel advertises parking facilities, but it turns out they don’t have their own parking. We had to use public parking and ended up paying €41. Had we been properly informed, we could have reserved a spot in the exact same public parking garage in advance for just €32. What made things even worse was the staff’s attitude. Instead of acknowledging the misleading information, they initially made us feel as if we were stupid or had misunderstood something. Their communication was rude and dismissive. Also it was a lot of noice in a room from outside and building was vibrating. In all our years of travelling, we haven’t encountered such a misleading experience in a long time, especially in the Netherlands and at a hotel carrying the DoubleTree by Hilton name. For the price charged, we expected transparency, accurate information and basic hospitality. Unfortunately, we received none of these. I would not recommend this hotel.

  An expensive 4 nights with no basic comforts unless you rang and asked

  Liked: Front desk staff helpful and friendly

  Disliked: Coffee tabs not replaced by housekeeping so had to ask 3 times for coffee tabs for a coffee in the morning and fresh cups Having no shower gel in the shower 2 days in a row. No complimentary water even as Hilton honor members. All of the above solved by ringing housekeeping or reception, but shouldn’t be my job. And finally, no toilet brush. Do not understand this one but seems to be the case in many top hotels.

  It's OK, if there are no other options

  Liked: The location is great.

  Disliked: Overhead shower not working, unable to turn off or adjust the temperature of the AC. Both of these issues were raised with reception at least 3 times, but unfortunately they were not resolved. The room was clean, but not perfectly clean and there was black mold in the shower tray. Some staff was a bit strange to interact with, nothing rude just strange.

  Fabulous hotel, would stay again

  Liked: Friendly staff, allowed us to check in hours early when we were asking if we could store our bags somewhere until check in as our room was ready. This was so appreciated after a very early start. Comfortable clean room, great view, great location. Nice bathroom. Spotlessly clean. Quiet. Lovely bar.
