  Disliked: Extremely Disappointing Experience – Serious Luggage Security Issues and Complete Lack of Accountability I am extremely disappointed with the way King Kong Hostel in Rotterdam handled a serious incident involving my personal belongings. During my stay, I left my backpack in the hostel's designated luggage storage room. This room is locked, and access is controlled by staff members who hold the keys. Before using the facility, I specifically asked whether it was safe to leave my belongings there and was assured that it was. Unfortunately, when I returned to collect my backpack, it had disappeared. According to the information provided by the hostel, another person had been allowed into the storage room by a staff member and had taken my backpack. The hostel does not provide luggage identification tags or collection receipts, raising serious questions about how belongings are identified and protected. Staff subsequently reviewed CCTV footage, but my backpack and its contents were not recovered. I reported the incident to the Dutch police on 10 October 2026 and obtained an official police report. I subsequently submitted a formal written complaint requesting compensation and an explanation of how this could have happened. Despite the seriousness of the incident, I have received no response to my formal complaint. What concerns me most is not only the loss of my belongings, but also the lack of proper luggage identification procedures and the absence of meaningful communication from management afterward. Guests should be able to trust that belongings placed in a staff-controlled storage facility will be properly safeguarded. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this hostel to anyone who needs secure luggage storage. I hope management takes this incident seriously, improves its procedures and provides a fair resolution.

  Comfortable beds, nice staff + good location, bar area; bring your towel and shower slippers

  Liked: Accessibility, only a 10-15 mins walk from the Rotterdam Central. Comfortable beds, and bathroom and washroom inside the room. Bring your own slippers and towel. The top beds are a bit difficult to climb to, request for a bottom bed if needed. Nice and helpful staff. In an area filled with bars and very cheerful atmosphere, so sleep wont be too quiet, but the beds are very comfortable. All in all, a very good find.

  Disliked: Bathroom cleanliness + there is no hand-washing sink in the hallway toilet nor in the room toilet. One has to use the sink in the shower room... That is a bit inconvenient.

  Great location, clean but no privacy

  Liked: The staff is really friendly. The bed is big and comfy. There is an extra toilet in the corridor which is great if the bathroom in the bedroom is occupied. The place is at walking distance from the station and at the heart of the action at night. Bar and music al around.

  Disliked: There is no curtains. So no privacy which is surprising in a shared bedroom. But I knew before going. With curtains the place would be a 10.
