  Horrible

  Liked: Nothing. Imposible to sleep there with the nauseating smell in the rooms

  Disliked: Nauseating smell in the rooms. If any problem to solve you need to send message by booking. Old and degraded surrounding areas. Access to the accommodation was very difficult. The property looked much better in the photos on the website than it did in reality. I ended up not staying at the property because of the smell. I preferred to lose the money I had already paid rather than spend a night there.

  Where to begin! Three hours before I was supposed to arrive at the property, I received a message from Margarida, the m

  Liked: The surrounding nature is stunning, this place could be so lovely if only the management cared a little more. The staff, especially Carla, were very accommodating and helpful. The manager of the property however, Margarida, was very unpleasant to work with.

  Disliked: Where to begin! Three hours before I was supposed to arrive at the property, I received a message from Margarida, the manager, telling me that my room was no longer available because the window was broken. There was no solution and no alternative accommodation offered—my reservation was simply canceled. Luckily, I was traveling with a group, so we asked if I could stay in a friend’s room, which had been booked separately. We were disappointed to have to fit three people into one room, but at least it gave us a solution. We then drove up the narrow hill to the property, which is essentially a one-way road with barely enough room for one car at a time. Since we were traveling as a group, we had two cars. There is a small space at the top where one car can comfortably park and turn around so you don’t have to reverse back down the hill, but there is nowhere else to turn around. Unfortunately, when we arrived, there was already a car occupying that space, and by then we were essentially trapped with no way to turn around and head back down. After many, many attempts, my friend eventually had to reverse down the narrow, steep-edged hill. It would have been extremely helpful to have been told in advance to park at the bottom of the hill and carry our bags up. We were able to get into our rooms using the instructions provided. Just so you know, there is no staff on property after 5pm. Unfortunately, as soon as we entered the room, we were greeted by a very strong smell of mold. We opened the doors and windows in an attempt to air the room out, but it made no difference. My clothes ended up smelling like mold for the rest of my trip. The room itself was simply dirty. I have stayed in extremely rustic, eco-friendly tents in the rainforest that were better maintained than this property. Since my original room was no longer available, luckily my friend’s room had a pullout couch.

  An escape from the city

  Liked: I loved that I had the place all to myself on my one night stay! Or, at least I think I did: ) It was so quiet and peacful. The bed was really mushy, so it didn't feel great on my back, but the peacefullness of the room and property still provided me with an excellent sleep. Carla was there to help me when I first arrived at 3pm on Friday and she saw me off the next morning. She was really helpful and kind. I though the room was nicely decorated and I loved the high ceilings and spaciousness of the room and bathroom. I used the pool twice and took a hot bath, two of my favorite things. It was located very close to Floresta Encantada, where I was attended a yoga retreat on Saturday, so this was the perfect overnight on Friday to get ready and relaxed and to not have to stress about taking the train from Lisboa first thing on Saturday morning.

  Disliked: It was really challenging to find the property - I would recommend adding to the instructions that it is a fairly long walk from the main road if you're getting there by foot. I was on the upper floor of rooms (which I read from other reviews is better for less dampness) however it was still very musty. All of my clothes (especially what I slept in on the musty bed) smelled terrible when I got home. Overall, it was a great value for the price, perfect for one night's stay, but I probably wouldn't stay longer than that.
