Exceptional
Liked: Amazing place, big house, perfect for a family vacation, with lots of rooms and facilities, comfortable, clean, with a yard, totally recomend it
Liked: Spacious house, cozy, in a good location and close to Serra de Sintra and the surrounding beaches.
Very poor, unhealthy environment, not fit for habitation
Liked: We didn't stay long enough to try anything. The house is at the end of a cul-de-sac? I suppose that's a good thing. It was easy enough to find the keys on arrival. It could be a nice house if the host cared for it.
Disliked: The property was completely overcome with black mould. It seems that nobody was looking after the house over winter and the heating had been turned off. Upon opening the front door there was an overpowering stench of mould. We had arrived very late in the evening and understandably, the host was not there to welcome us. I immediately sent a message to the host and she agreed to come over in the morning. I can honestly say that nearly every room was covered in black mould where the ceilings met the walls and around sealed windows. Even the instructional paper signs around the house were damp and mouldy. In some places you could see where water had come into the house through the outside wall. I had my family with me and didn't want to expose them to mould inhalation so we booked alternative accommodation and were gone by around 9AM. The host was not forthcoming with a refund of the nights we didn't stay so we have been forced to seek compensation through legal channels.
Great house, quiet area - we were all very happy and would give it 5 stars!
Liked: It had everything we needed. All the bedrooms had comfortable beds, all the showers worked great in the bathrooms, and the kitchen was more than functional. The host was quick getting back to us on any questions we had, and we - there were six of us - had a great stay. We would all stay there again, hands down.
Disliked: We had no complaints.
The house was quite spacious and in a great location
Liked: The location and the house were both clean and roomy.
Disliked: Due to the chilly and rainy weather, air conditioning in the bedrooms and living room was insufficient to keep the entire house warm. The bathrooms and kitchen were both pretty cold.
It was ok
Liked: It’s a large home with a bathroom upstairs and one downstairs. The bedrooms were warm. The owner is very lovely and good with communication. She kindly organised for us stay an extra day when we got our dates mixed up. The kitchen is stocked well and we appreciated the bits left for us to use like salt and oil etc. If staying - try the restaurant O Poco Novo. It is excellent.
Disliked: Few things you should know before booking, it’s about 30 minutes away from Sintra. We couldn’t ever get the house warm enough as it’s got air con but very high ceilings, where the heat goes. We were cold unless in one of the bedrooms. There weren’t enough pillows and the shower was blocked although it was reported so should be fixed. Be aware the neighbours have dogs that are a problem. The larger one is a nice dog but it jumped up against our car many times and when we got out it would jump at us, excited, leaving dirty paw marks on our clothes. It was always out and was boisterous but not a nasty dog. Just be aware if you have children or don’t like dogs too much.
