  Good experience

  Liked: An original historic building with its own character and history. It’s not just a hotel, but a full, compact complex featuring a restaurant, a spa, and a conference room for business meetings. The location is convenient for visiting Basel - just 7 minutes by the frequently running TER regional trains. However, the walk from the train station to the hotel takes about 15-20 minutes at a brisk pace, or even longer if you take your time. So while it’s not the most prime location, the walk is mostly straight and there are grocery stores and cafés along the way. My room and the shower area were very spacious. It’s a pity Booking doesn't allow video attachments or photo uploads for this review, so I’ll share a video walkthrough of the room on Google Maps instead. The bedroom features vintage parquet flooring, while the bathroom is tiled. The interior has an original vintage style. My room had large, full-sized windows facing the street, letting in plenty of natural daylight and sunshine. There were a few minor glitches with the keycard, but nothing critical. The room was clean. The mattress was quite firm, which wasn't entirely comfortable for me to sleep on. All necessary amenities were provided, including bathrobe and slippers. Breakfast was standard for the region: eggs, a selection of cheeses, cold cuts, fresh bread, baguettes, croissants, butter, jam, yogurt, fresh fruit, orange juice, tea, coffee, milk, and cereal/muesli. The breakfast room was comfortable and spacious. Also, there was always fresh fruit available at the front desk as a free treat. The reception is open 24/7, and the staff are friendly and helpful. The hotel was quiet and peaceful throughout my stay, and there is an elevator available. The staff also helped me carry my luggage to the room. On my check-out day, I used the free shuttle service to EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg. Everything went smoothly, and the driver arrived right on time.

  Disliked: ​Honestly, this is a major drawback and, in my opinion, warrants a much bigger score deduction, though it would be unfair to discount the reception staff, who do a fantastic job. ​What I really disliked was the online pre-check-in process 24 hours prior to arrival: the hotel website strictly forces you to enter complete credit card details. While I completely understand providing passport details and an address, requiring the card's CVV code immediately raises red flags. With so much financial fraud and personal data leaks nowadays, leaving sensitive bank codes on an unsecured hotel website feels extremely unsafe. ​When I asked if I could skip entering my card details, the hotel refused, stating that I wouldn't be able to check in otherwise. Since it was too late to find alternative accommodation just a day before arrival, I had no choice but to complete their form, leaving me with a negative and distrustful impression before I even arrived. I strongly believe hotel management should review their online check-in policy to respect guests' security and privacy.

  Beautiful rooms, nice staff and cosy vibes

  Liked: Gorgeous rooms - so cosy and a beautiful big bath tub. I felt so at home and wish I could have stayed longer!

  Disliked: The breakfast didn't have many options especially if you want to eat healthy.
