    What a filthy dump!

Disliked: The whole hotel was absolutely filthy. Bizarrely so. It felt like we were walking through a building site it was so dirty. And while clearly there was building work going on in an adjacent room, surely that's all the more reason to pull out a mop and give it a cleaning. We stayed on a Monday night and again the following Saturday and it was utterly disgusting on both occasions. You could perhaps accept that there had been a cleaning failure on a single day, not that it would have justified the sheer awfulness of the place, but the fact that it was so bad on both occasions and over the course of the week clearly indicates that the hotel simply don't give a damn about cleanliness. The attached photo doesn't do credit to the general level of filth and it's important to note that this wasn't one particularly bad area - this was the state of the floor throughout the entire building. What hotel doesn't clean its floors?!! What hotel manager doesn't get our a mop and do it themselves if needs be? I would have been utterly mortified if I had been responsible for this dump. Literally EVERY floor surface, from the moment we walked in the front door, was covered in muddy footprints and general dirt. In our room itself, there were surfaces that were covered in dust and particles of dirt and grit on the bedside locker and on the floor beside the bed. The curtain was torn and there was a large black rot stain on the seat of the one chair in the room. The shower was weirdly too tight (it was a tiny room and they'd obviously just tried to squeeze it in) so that it was impossible to fit in the shower cubicle and simultaneously close the door! I have never come across anything like it. It was a relief to leave it and get out into the clean air afterwards!

Liked: Room, and bathroom especially, were very clean. Also very nice location, quite easy to move around from there.

Disliked: The bed was awful, extremely soft and the wheels were a nightmare. Barely slept the whole night.

once the work is carried out it will be a good value option hotel again

Liked: I've stayed at the hotel 3 or 4 times now and it meets the price point it is pitched at. It's clean, staff are helpful and i would generally recommend the hotel

Disliked: while i knew the hotel kitchen / restaurant was being refurbed and out of action no mention was made of there being work carried out on the whole 1st floor. The work men often blocked off the lift which was annoying and work was being carried out 6 days a week. coffee facilities in the reception area were often not operating and often ran out of cups when it was operating. which was frustrating.

A convenient and comfortable place to stay for a night

Liked: The location was excellent, as it was on a tram line that took you quickly into the old city. The front desk staff were very helpful. Though there weren’t any bells and whistles, the room was comfortable and met our needs. And it was quiet!
