  Dog-friendly stay with unforgettable mountain views

  Liked: We had a very pleasant stay. The location is excellent, and the staff were very kind and welcoming. We especially appreciated that the accommodation is dog-friendly — even the restaurant welcomes dogs, which is very important to us when travelling. The views from both the room and the restaurant are beautiful and really add to the experience. The private bathroom is quite small, but it was clean and perfectly fine for our stay. The shared kitchen is very basic, but it is possible to use your own kettle or hot plate there, which makes things much easier and more practical. Overall, we had a lovely stay and really enjoyed the beautiful setting and the dog-friendly atmosphere.

  Hotel effectively closes down all facilities every Sunday & Monday including that panoramic patio!

  Liked: I primarily booked the Hotel for the pretty furnished panoramic patio on the ground floor with amazing views of the mountains which the hotel uses on all its publicity pictures showing nice furniture, cushions, umbrellas and pretty plant pots. Unfortunately the owner closes off access to it completely on Sundays and Mondays. Which was 2 days out of our 4 day stay. With no advance warning until we checked in (and had paid in full) and he then mentioned that the entire ground floor and the front main door access would be closed on the Sunday and Monday of our 4 day stay. I still thought there would be access to the outdoor patio though as there were steps at the front of the building that led to this patio. However, we found that there was a gate screwed shut to deny us access that way too. How can this be allowed, or acceptable.

  Disliked: The fact that the owner effectively shuts all social facilities that he lists seperately on his listing- the restaurant, bar, snack bar, coffee bar, billiard table AND also all access to the pretty furnished panoramic patio --Basically, the entire ground floor, on Sundays and Mondays. Despite only publicising on Booking.com that just the restaurant would be closed on Sundays when I made my original booking. Check all the small print etc before booking this hotel.

  Cosy mountain chalet

  Liked: Great location, bus stopped right outside of the door. You could walk from the train station if you don’t have luggage. Taxis in Switzerland are expensive. The free bus was helpful - we took it to First station (just a couple of stops) from where we took the cable car up and hiked to the lake. Breakfast at the hotel is basic, coffee is good. Everything is Switzerland feels like no value for money, but the main amazing part of this hotel is the view! Roof terrace where you can eat your own food has the best views. The hotel is quiet. The shared bathroom and shower didn’t bother us as it was always empty even during high season. The hotel is cosy - very Swiss alps feeling. Happy hour every day is also nice!
