  Budget experience at non-budget price

  Liked: The location is excellent.

  Disliked: The facility hasn't aged nicely - public spaces feel old and unwelcoming. The room I stayed at was in similar conditions - scratched floor, walls and tables were particularly unpleasant to the eye. The room was small but not cozy. The toilet was small. Also, The WC was higher than necessary, which made for an uncomfortable experience. Also, the bathroom's lights would turn off after like 10s if I didn't move, which is just plain weird. I expected something else based on the hotel pricing.

  Liked: Next to tram - 50 meters across the street. PRICE was reasonable for Zurich. Breakfast good choice. Very clean. Nice staff.

  The tram station right outside was the highlight; that's where the good stuff ends

  Liked: Only the location—the tram stops right outside the hotel.

  Disliked: “Budget” is fair warning, but this was very, very basic. The room felt like a train compartment, with a tiny sink practically within arm’s reach of the bed. The toilet’s sensor light switched off after about 30 seconds, which I guess is the hotel's way of being environment friendly, or so they claim. The air control worked initially, then wasn’t working, and the room became uncomfortably warm at night. Breakfast was cramped, the staff seemed unprepared, and refills took ages. Reception staff were matter-of-fact and showed little empathy. Our two nights were quite miserable. I wouldn’t recommend this for families; even as a couple, I’d reconsider. At best, it’s a place for a solo traveller passing through for no more than 24 hours.
