I feel sorry for students who stay there

Liked: It was near to where I needed to be. Close to Co-Op.

Disliked: Key collection - I am a lone travelling woman, there were some men hanging out at the reception leaning against the counter, the receptionist announced loudly which room and floor I am staying in. Not great. Bed - probably the most uncomfortable bed I've stayed in in a decade. Could feel the springs. Noise - the only way to cool the room down was to open the tiny window, and the noise from outside was overwhelming. Very loud road, just next to a busy roundabout and a building site. Kitchen facilities - electric hob switched itself off as soon as it reached hot temperature, took me over 30min to boils some eggs. Just one pan, with non-stick coating scratched all over so leaching poisons into food, no other option to heat food up as no microwave so had some teflon with soup for lunch. Oven filthy, zero cleaning products so no surprise, no tea towel to take things out of oven either and because oven was adding to the heat of the room, it wasn't really an option. Zero teaspoons. No bin liners but was asked to take rubish to a rubish area whatever that means? Zero essentials such as sugar, salt, oil, washing up liquid. Bathroom - no hand soap, nowhere to put my soap either, had to use food bowl. Comfort - Uncomfortable bed, uncomfortable seat, and room got very hot with no way of cooling it down. It was way too hot in the room both day and night. I get that getting air con is not always an option, but at least a fan??? It was so hot and uncomfortable I left a day early suffering with heat exhaustion unable to participate in the last day of festival I came for. Other - even window roller blind did not work, had to just keep it down or wedge on top. No iron either or other basics, I asked at reception if there is an iron I can borrow for 10min but no, so another thing to pack??

Liked: The location is very good, close to Aston University and BCU, and with many amenities nearby, such as supermarkets and restaurants. The staff is helpful and welcoming. The room is an adequate size and was clean. The check-in and check-out process was very simple.

Disliked: The Wi-Fi needs to be better; I had to reconnect my phone a few times. But the speed is good and it's stable.

    Basic

Disliked: Needed passport to get the keys, despite showing online already. The receptionist demanded to take a picture of the passport on their smartphone and very rude, didn't seem to appreciate this is security risk. Stank of weed. Very basic room, bed sheet didn't even cover the thin mattress. Very rude messages about student ID, threatening to keep the money if I didn't show with 24 hours. Building works outside through the night. Avoid.
