Good
Northern Soul night
Liked: Great venue. Never been before but love the jazz club feel. Friendly staff. Good vibes.
Disliked: Unfortunately power cut the next day. Not hotels fault but meant no hot breakfast. Offered continental but really needed a cup of tea so ended up going elsewhere.
Could be so much better
Liked: Excellent location for our needs and the restaurant food was superb.
Disliked: The room was extremely dated. Decoration needed for attention to detail. Over painting on walls to ceilings made room look more tatty than it was. Shower curtain had horrible stain making bathroom look tatty.l and needs replacing. Window dressings are old and ill fitted, most definitely need replacing. The room was very dark and needs lighting adjustment. Also different sockets holes on bedside walls to rest of room which are not usable. Although the room was very dated and had the appearance of no change since the 70's (apart from some bad paint work on walls and coving, in error) it was a very comfortable bed.
Booked it last minute as holiday started later
Liked: Good
Disliked: Location
Liked: Great location
Avoid, not worth the price
Liked: The breakfast in the morning was pretty good and the young lady serving was nice and polite. Pretty convenient location for the office I was working from in the morning and to the local town.
Disliked: The reception area stank of dog. I don't just mean a little bit, I mean it was like they somehow put dog smell into an air freshener and then doused the entire area in it from multiple cans. Couldn't even see a dog either. The room itself: Looked like it hadn't been redecorated since the 70s. The carpet at the edge of the bathroom looked like it disintegrated 20 years ago, and rather than replacing it they just stuck some brown parcel tape over the top of the carpet gripper. Spoiler alert, brown parcel tape doesn't stop the spikes from stabbing guests in the foot when they stand on it. The mattress was old and lumpy. The fancy wrought iron lamps were full of dust. The temparature on the shower had been turned up way past the 'lock' that should lrevent people from making it too hot, presumably by the cleaners. Based on how the dial was marked I couldn't tell at first and burnt my foot when I first tried to use it. The woman on the front desk gave a very half-hearted apology when mentioned in the morning.
Really enjoyed our stay, would stay here again purely for location and excellent staff
Liked: Great location, staff amazing and friendly, food was fantastic
Disliked: Room smelt musty and damp
