  Liked: The location is perfect for walking to the local area and the tram and train for further travel. The rooms are nicely decorated and breakfast was delicious.

  Atlas - Africa room

  Liked: The staff were more than eager to accommodate us. Breakfast was good with plenty options. Car parking was excellent (at a nightly cost).

  Disliked: Another pillow on the bed for comfort would have been nice. The noise from the road outside was very loud and our room was at the front of the property. We needed the window ajar for air as it was quite warm. The bathroom door handle needs to be tightened. (Very loose) And the toilet seat was very loose and slipping.

  Ideal for visiting Ghent and sightseeing

  Liked: The location to Ghent centre was superb. The host was great. Parking was a bonus.

  Disliked: This is a very old building full of character but also " tired". It was clean but worn in places.

  Bed bugs

  Disliked: Unfortunately I had only read the booking.com reviews, but if you read the Google reviews, there are multiple entries about bed bugs. We returned to our room to check our bed and found bed bugs in the slats of the bed frame with eggs. We checked out and stayed elsewhere. The host stated they carry out monthly treatments for bed bugs, but looking at the dust and hair that had accumulated under the bed and the stains all over the mattress, I beg to differ. They did however offer to refund us. Which I would expect. Bedbugs can hitch hike on your clothing and luggage and you can bring them home with you. They are a nightmare to try to eliminate. We had very expensive motorbike clothing that could have had to have been binned if we hadn’t have noticed there was an issue. Not to mention the expense if we had of brought them home. I am appalled to see that despite the multiple reviews for this hotel stating they have bedbugs, they’re still taking bookings.
