Liked: A lovely hotel, clean and cosy, with a great location. The room has a beautiful vintage-style interior. There is a coffee machine, a kettle, tea, coffee, sugar and creamer in the room. The bed is large and very comfortable.

A fine but tired stay where the €185 cheapest room felt unfinished and the check-in wait was frustra

Liked: The stay was fine overall, and the free breakfast the next morning made up for the check-in wait.

Disliked: The room looked old and unfinished, with missing paint on the walls, and we had to wait an extra hour for a room we’d already booked. We also heard other guests had no hot water.

Elegant room, delicious breakfast, good staff and excellent parking

Liked: Marvellous staff and elegant rooms. The breakfast was excellent- particularly the waffle maker! The hotel could do with a refreshing coat of paint perhaps but in no way does that detract from the pleasure of the experience. I also particularly appreciated the parking facilities

Disliked: There was nothing I didn't enjoy

Stunning potential, yet to be fully realised

Liked: The unassuming facade in an unassuming street does not prepare you for the lobby, reception and grand rooms of the ground floor of this potentially lovely boutique hotel. There is a past splendour here that is being restored from the bottom up, with terazzo floor, high ceilings and a grand atmosphere from years ago. There is also a courtyard garden (not open at the time). Reception was a pleasant area, but with a very pleasant, informative and efficient member of staff who gave a brief history of the property and also provided a glass of prosecco in welcome. Only staying one night, we had opted for an 'attic' room (the old servants quarters) and after about 70 steps up the increasingly narrow stairs, it became obvious that renovations had yet to reach the upper floors. A parking space could be booked, for a fee, and was a few metres away in an insecure 'garage'. The hotel was located a few metres off the main road into town, where public transport was readily available, and it was only a 15 minute walk into the centre. Despite some issues with the room which were brought to the management's attention by email, we can definitely recommend this interesting hotel and look forward to a return visit, hopefully to see all the works completed.

    Disliked: Nothing really. Much potential.

Tired room in need of upgrade, delapidation masquerading as historic

Liked: Easy access to public transport and city centre. Welcoming staff. Good pressure in the shower and comfortable bed

Disliked: Reception unmaned from 7:30pm. The wifi code provided didn't work. The room claimed to have a historical retro deco but the reality is that it was poorly decorated some time ago and is now long overdue refurbishment ( mould in shower, peeling paint and wall paper in bathroom, bedroom and windows, broken window, wobbly bedside table, extension cables, musty smell in wardrobe. Ill fitting mattress sheet. Room was warm even though it was September, so slept with window open to be woken up by children going to school (back of the building faces school playground).
