  More enjoyable in the summer

  Liked: The room was clean and comfortable. Not much space, but then it was a boat so that is expected. The breakfast was good enough and we appreciated the decaffeinated coffee. The host was helpful and thoughtful.

  Disliked: It actually is not something that can be helped. The location is not close to the city center, which is mainly where we wanted to go. Maybe it would not have seemed far away in warmer weather. But it was November and it was sometimes hard to muster enthusiasm for long walks back and forth.

  Great location and a relaxing stay

  Liked: We had two comfortable nights stay on the water. It’s a great location, particularly if you want to swim at the art deco pool across the canal. It’s a short walk to the main sights but you’ll get a real sense of Ghent as you walk around.

  Would recommend The Boatel to any and everyone. Sven will make sure you’re stay is comfortable and enjoyable

  Liked: Loved my stay at The Boatel. Sven obviously cares really deeply about the quality of service and experience and he absolutely delivers on both!

  Disliked: In the bathroom, there was a noticeable sewage smell. I’m not sure if this is typical or not. But this is the only small detail that I didn’t love. If it’s typical and unavoidable, you should read my reviews as 10s across the board!
