  It was delightful!!

  Liked: The breakfast was wonderful and the smell of the fresh baking treats built up a lot of anticipation.

  Disliked: It being so central made it a little louder at night with people but it still quieted down eventually.

  A gem of a hotel

  Liked: The location is perfect. Walking distance to everywhere you need to visit. The hotel is above a beautiful and popular bakery/Cafe. You must have a coffee and cake when you stay!!! Waking in the morning to the smell of fresh bread and cakes being baked was a delight for the senses. The staff are super friendly and helpful. Tea/coffee supplies in the room and a mini fridge with water, which was replaced daily. We loved our stay and will return!

  Disliked: We have no issues with the hotel. There can be some noise around the street outside at night or in the morning but it's just people living their lives so we were not bothered.

  A comfortable bed and great location, overshadowed by unacceptable cleanliness issues and a ruined first night

  Liked: The bed was very comfortable once I was finally able to sleep in it on the second night. The hotel is on a quiet street in the heart of Ghent, within walking distance of the main attractions. That said, Ghent is a compact city, so location isn’t necessarily a major differentiating factor.

  Disliked: I booked this property largely because of its exceptional reviews, so my experience was particularly disappointing. Before arrival, I was informed that check-in might be delayed because the cleaning team was having difficulty reaching the property due to a railway strike. I had no issue with this, as my own travel was delayed too. Unfortunately, I found multiple hairs throughout the bedding, including beneath the sheets and around the duvet. It was so unpleasant that I couldn’t bring myself to sleep in the bed on my first night. When I reported this, the hotel arranged for all the bedding to be changed the following day. I appreciate that they addressed the complaint, but my first night was already ruined. Whether the strike affected the cleaning arrangements is beside the point. Equally baffling was the absence of hand soap in the bathroom. When I requested some, I was given body wash instead. After explaining that body wash wasn’t hand soap, I was told they were waiting for a soap delivery. No hand soap was subsequently provided. Surely sourcing a simple bar of soap for a guest isn’t an unreasonable expectation? I genuinely hope this was an isolated incident. The hotel has overwhelmingly positive reviews, and I’d like to believe it normally lives up to them. However, basic cleanliness and hygiene should never be compromised. While the bedding issue was corrected for the second night, that doesn’t undo the experience of the first. I hope the hotel learns from this and continues to provide the excellent service other guests have described.
