Exceptional
Exceptional time next to the castle
Liked: Just a fantastic, unique location, next to the castle.
Disliked: Nothing, everything was perfect, just a little hard to reach with luggages. The taxi service company did not show up
We had a lovely stay at the beautiful Hermitage apartment. The entire staff was terrific
Liked: I had the electronic key but did not have internet (wifi) on the street). Carri was in the residence to help us access the apartment and was wonderful from the minute we met her. She is an asset to the organization. She was able to obtain a physical key for our stay so we wouldn't be worried about being locked out. Bernardo was also very helpful through every communication through booking process and helping us with transportation. The support from them was stellar. The views of the area from the windows was also delightful.
Disliked: The property is located in a restricted area, so ordinary Ubers are not allowed. We are physically fit, so was OK for us, but people with mobility issues or unable to move bags through the streets would find this place difficult to reach, and difficult to access a safe place for departure. It would be great to have a golf-cart type of vehicle help people access/exit the apartment to obtain car service.
Liked: Excellent location and well appointed clean apartment.
Gorgeous, quiet and special
Liked: The location felt truly special without being forced or over the top. Decor was simple but worked with the location.
Disliked: Needing to be dropped off down the hill was rough, but recognize the owners can’t do anything about protecting the streets around the property. Wish I would have booked an airport drop off that could have taken us to the nearby alley.
Apartment offers beautiful view and quiet evenings above Alfama but requires extensive hills/stairs
Liked: The view from apartment 3B was beautiful but requires a lot of stairs. The apartment was quiet and comfortable. AC was a plus. Host was responsive but off site. Peacocks in the castle area are a highlight. Kitchen is well equipped, and started coffee/milk was provided. Remote access was helpful, though requires a phone app.
Disliked: From apartment 3B, be advised that the windows overlooking Alfama and the river are chest height and thus require a person to stand up to see. That meant no views while eating at the dining table or sitting in the living area. The apartment is off the beaten path and behind the castle walls, which means that access is by foot unless an expensive private car is hired. Walk will be approximately 1 km uphill from the river, and, once inside the apartment, approximately 45 stairs to apartment 3B (no elevator). The breakfast in a box was delivered late and was unimpressive. I canceled that portion of my stay after one day. The toaster did not work, but host replaced it the next day.
Overall, high recommend. Great stay!
Liked: Great location and amazing accommodations! Highly recommend!
Disliked: Climbing the hills to the top … but that seemed to be the majority of Lisbon!
