Guest reviews
Very good
Would definitely recommend, excellent overall
Liked: Lovely decor, spacious room, great location, able to walk to centre of Cambridge in 25 minutes
Disliked: Nothing to improve
Comfortable hotel, and worth the price
Liked: The room was lovely and warm, and the shower was exceptional!! Very nice breakfast, in a beautiful conservatory (although the room was a little cold in the mornings)
Disliked: The TV had very limited channels, with a poor reception. I received a lot of emails - including 3 separate emails saying 'We can't wait to welcome you'. The room had 2 single beds pushed together. The duvet, however, did not reach each side, so it didn't cover both of us. There were 2 blankets though - so we used those on each side, to cover the gaps. This was changed to 2 separate single beds for our last night (bit of a communication problem when booking) with one bed having a single duvet, and the other an enormous duvet, folded over - which would've been far too hot - so we pushed the beds back together again.
Nice but a few issues need improving
Liked: The guest house was about 35 minutes walk from town centre which was just enough of a walk. The decor was nice. It was clean. Tea/coffee facilities were good, plus mini shower & shampoo in the bathroom. Continental breakfast nice variety of cereals and croissant/pastry/juice/cheese/ham.
Disliked: No-one in the house to ask anything. Just a central phone number. A few issues with the en-suite. We stayed in room 4 - family room. The bathroom smelt like there might have been a leak at some point which was noticeable as soon as we opened the bedroom door. Plaster/paper was peeling above the shower. The water pressure for the shower was very poor. If I had needed to wash my hair I would have struggled. The bar light in bathroom didn’t work so always had to put main light on with noisy fan. The handle on the door of bathroom didn’t do anything so had to pull or push door open, which woke others in the night. In the main bedroom the shaver mirror light not working. A ridiculously low chair for the dressing table. There is no way you could sit and dry your hair or put makeup on as couldn’t see the mirror, the chair was so low. No sockets next to the double bed to charge phone. Lots of tv channels not able to get (aerial might have moved in strong wind). Also the window on the right - the hinge needs tightening as window doesn’t quite shut properly. At breakfast we were asked if we would like bacon, egg and tomato, and that was literally what it was - one fried egg, one slice of bacon, 2 slices of tomato. It would have been nice if there was an option for baked beans and also if we were asked how many slices of bacon and eggs we would like. If I was very hungry, or a man, I would have been disappointed.
Liked: Rooms clean and tidy, heat was on so not cold. Breakfast was cooked to high standard, staff very friendly.
Disliked: Shower needs some tlc, water hardly flows, but manageable
Liked: Good. Cozy.
Great location. Nice and clean
Liked: Location was great. Close to the centre. Apartments were exactly as on the picture, nice and clean. Self checkout. Breakfast was served plated (only issue bacon was not cooked properly, fat was still raw....needs a bit longer on grill before serving but I guess it happenned as it was quite busy and the lady seemed to be in a rush).
Disliked: The only problem is the parking, as we arrived quite late it was full (space for around 6 cars). It would be great just to add some information where to park if no space for guest like us arriving in the evening. As we are not familiar with Cambridge we had to go around to find somewhere else to park and walk back to the apartment. Not knowing if there are any restrictions and where to go was a bit of a stress. Just a short note in email would be helpful. It's clear its first come first serve basis but I think most of the guests arrive by car and this was only thing missing in my opinion.
