Pleasant stay with excellent breakfast staff but very warm

Liked: The staff were great. The lady serving breakfast was excellent. Friendly and attentive and really, really good at her job. The breakfast was fresh cooked and delicious. Second day had poached eggs and they were perfect. Location is an easy walk into town or a slightly longer but equally easy walk to the train stations. The room was clean and there were plenty of toiletries provided. Bathroom was small but clean and the shower was good (sink tap didn't get hot enough for a shave so we boiled a kettle rather than leave it run for ages and ages)

Disliked: The room was really warm, bordering on hot. We left the window open all day but it was too noisy to leave open at night with the busy road outside. To be fair there was a big floor fan provided but that was a bit noisy all night but did help. For me personally the added problem was the mattress and pillow protectors didn't appear to be the breathable type but more plastic backed ( I know they need to protect the mattress and pillows but I found them so uncomfortable and they made me really hot.) Also the lounge and part of dining room was being turned into a high end restaurant so there was breakfast seating for 24 with an occupancy of 44. We went down very early and it was fine but I can only imagine how chaotic it would be later. Carpark entrance is narrow and a bit tight but okay. exit is much wider. Vans used the exit for both. We enjoyed our stay but would be reluctant to go again mainly due to the temperature issue.

Great price - convenient and comfortable

Liked: Room was spacious and light. Bed was comfortable and the addition of the table and chairs were a bonus Staff on arrival were welcoming, polite and helpful. There was a good selection at breakfast and staff were friendly

Disliked: Breakfast room was very cramped (some renovation work going on so maybe not always like that). Due to lack of space evrything was off menu and you couldn't just help yourself to things like fruit or juice - as it was busy, serving was constantly on the go so didn't want to kepp hassling for a drink Shower had moments of going scalding hot.

Fine and functional for a night

Liked: Staff were friendly and helpful. Room was fine for purpose. Breakfast was decent and staff were allergen aware.

Disliked: Bed and shower were a bit rubbish. Sheets had quite a few hairs

Great value. Clean, comfortable, friendly and helpful staff

Liked: The hotel did everything important right. The whole environment was clean and well maintained. The room itself was large and had good ensuite facilities. The beds were comfortable, and it was quiet. The breakfast was excellent and was a huge plus, being included in the room cost. Staff were incredibly efficient, service was fast, the quality of the breakfast was good. The hotel is temporarily without its restaurant, which is under renovation, but despite being cosy, the breakfast room was very pleasant.

Disliked: If I had one criticism, it would be the location - the hotel is slightly outside Exeter and is on a main road. However, the noise wasn't a problem, and I think the location is reflected in the cost, which was extremely reasonable. I would compare this hotel favourably with a Premier Inn, for example.
