Staying near Anfield: what you need to know

What is Anfield?

Anfield is Liverpool FC’s ground, about 3 km north of the city centre, with more than 61,000 seats since the Main Stand was extended. It has a museum and stadium tours, and The Kop singing β€œYou’ll Never Walk Alone” is one of football’s best-known moments. Goodison Park, Everton’s old ground, is across Stanley Park.

Getting around from here

Buses from Queen Square in the centre take about twenty minutes. On match days the Soccerbus links Sandhills station, on the Merseyrail Northern line, with the stadium. On foot, the centre and Lime Street are about 40 minutes away.

When the hotels fill up

On Liverpool match nights, especially in the Champions League, hotel prices rise across the city, and the few near Anfield sell out early. The city also fills up for big concerts and for the Grand National at Aintree in April.

Which area to choose

There are only a few hotels and guesthouses next to the stadium. Most visitors stay in central Liverpool, near Lime Street, the Albert Dock or the Beatles quarter on Mathew Street, and go to the match by bus or taxi.

If you’d rather be in the old town, see the hotels in Liverpool city centre or our guide to the best areas to stay in Liverpool.
