    Fascinating Oxford Venue

Liked: A delightful apartment and location taking me back in time to Shakespearian England - loved the beams. Best bed I've had in a long time. Great location withthe courtyard below and localpeople most helpful. The owner and family really were good getting me to and fro.

Disliked: As I am elderly and infirm, the steps up were the only drawback but I managed again with help

Historic building in the centre of Oxford. Perfect if you like character

Liked: Breakfast not supplied. Central location right next to main shops, and a historic covered market with many eating places so not an issue

Disliked: Nothing really. It's a 12th century building in a central location, so access would not suit those with mobility issues. Also a a mediaeval building the windows face others nearby. If you are very shy you might prefer somewhere more isolated. Floor also not level but that is part of the charm

Liked: The location; however, there are two number 4s in the Cross - make sure you get the right one, or you’ll be knocking on the door for ages.

Disliked: We had to wait for the housekeeper to arrive. We had no idea where she was, so we had to call the owner. Her phone went to voicemail at first, so we had to persist. Eventually, after 10 minutes, we got through - then we still had to wait for the housekeeper. Surely a lock box would prevent this hassle?

Excellent location, kind staff, reasonably good night's sleep

Liked: The location is excellent - right in Oxford City Centre, the staff are kind and helpful, and the bed was reasonably comfortable.

Disliked: The place looked a bit unkempt and dirty. I understand it is an old, historical building - which I liked - but the carpets could do with being changed - they were stained and the place looked a bit run down and dusty. I was staying in the attic and had to go down a precarious set of stairs to access the shared bathroom - and it was tricky getting my suitcase up and down so many flights of stairs (at least 3 or maybe 4). There's no reception so you have to call them to check in and get your keys - so it's definitely more of a shared house than a hotel.

    Great location but tired finishes

Liked: Location Location Location. clean comfortable bedding and a friendly host

Disliked: Dirty entrance carpet, smells from adjoining take aways, stained carpets, tired finishes and fittings, freezer blocked up and old food still in, no cooking facilities because of fire certificate. Noise from streets below
