Where to stay in Oxford: the best areas

Historic centre

Among the colleges, the High Street and Broad Street there are few hotels and nearly all of them charming, in old buildings. It is expensive, but everything is within walking distance, including the Bodleian and the Radcliffe Camera.

Jericho and the station

West of the centre, by the station and the canal, there are modern hotels and guesthouses on Victorian streets. Jericho has good pubs and restaurants, and the centre is ten minutes’ walk away.

Cowley Road and the outskirts

East of Magdalen Bridge there are cheaper B&Bs, and on the outskirts chain hotels with parking next to the park-and-ride sites. They are a good option if you arrive by car.
