Guest reviews
Very good
Liked: Staff were excellent, went over and above, very friendly
Disliked: Building work/scaffolding outside our room (we felt we couldn’t have the curtains open due to builders right outside) Shower was either scalding hot or cold
Liked: The breakfasts were excellent and the staff extremely helpful and friendly.
Disliked: The room headboard needed a lot of tlc. Plus the plug had a hole in it and was not attached to a cord to get it out of the plughole.
Not value for money and disappointing
Liked: Friendly staff on arrival and at breakfast although no one on desk in morning to talk to re our night. Breakfast was nice. Plenty of tea and HRT milk in room to make a hot drink.
Disliked: Bed was like a brick to sleep on and pillows felt cheap and all the same with no variety to choose a preference from ( all lumpy latex foam bits). The bed was quite a small double (We thought that two singles would be placed together to form a large double as in many hotels we have stayed in). The room was really noisy with whoever was staying in the next room - the other side of the wall to our headboard (TV loud until very late and talking + TV early morning as well as snoring loudly all night). This and the uncomfortable bed kept us awake a lot so we didn’t wake refreshed. The bathroom was passable but cramped and shower screen not terribly clean where the concertina hinges were. Towel rail above toilet dated and a bit rusty in places. There was scaffolding out the front of the hotel and netting so no view ( it would just be nice if the hotel had contacted us before and asked us if we minded this)? It was the weekend of the storm and we arrived late after battling the elements through Devon and to a show in Plymouth, so we were too exhausted to ask to move rooms late at night after getting into our PJ’s! So…all in all - we did not have a great night at all and because of this, unfortunately wouldn’t stay again.
Liked: Location, easy walking distance to main areas. Affordable, great food, comfortable and clean.
Disliked: Some noise out front periodically over night, but that can't be helped
A gem of a hotel
Liked: I thought that for the price, this was a wonderful little hotel. Beautifully clean, amazing breakfast, lovely staff and a comfortable room with all you'd expect and need.
Disliked: Nothing
Liked: Location is great. Very friendly and amenable staff.
Disliked: The ensuite lacked space-a tight squeeze to get in.
