Perfect location for Cologne station and Dom

Liked: The staff were invariably friendly, helpful and very willing to go the extra mile to help. Breakfast buffet was delicious and had more variety than many others

  Disappointing!

Liked: Great location. Great breakfast. Lovely breakfast staff!

Disliked: The room had a very strong smell of perfume and smoke. It was a ground floor room looking out onto the street so I couldn't open the window to air the room because of personal security. I booked the hotel Domstern but had to check in somewhere else at a different hotel (very near but it was confusing), and then go back to my actual hotel with a series of check in codes. No sense of being welcomed or hospitality. Next morning I mentioned the strong smell in my room and the manager said she would mention it to housekeeping. No apology! No smile. Disappointing!

Liked: Good location and nice breakfast make this hotel a worthy stay. The Receptionist Uta (sp) was super nice and helpful. They have secure bicycle parking too! It is a short walk to everything that makes Cologne the awesome city it is.

Disliked: This hotel is actually several separate buildings along the same street which is a little confusing an makes going down for breakfast a little inconvenient.

  Excellent location and great room

Liked: Excellent location. Lovely staff. Our room was clean, comfortable, and quiet. We dropped our bags off early and the staff brought them to our room! Nice touch after a long day of touring.

Disliked: It’s not the hotel but some people out on the street late at night talking loudly.

Overall great location and good price

Liked: Fantastic location within walking distance of all the sights. Comfortable, clean room.

Disliked: Check in is at the sister hotel down the road. We were asked what time we would like breakfast and were offered 3 slots 7-8,8-9 or 9-10. It was not made clear that if we went for the 8-9 slot we were expected to have finished breakfast by 9 am. We arrived at 8.50 and the rather rude member staff told us we were too late for the full breakfast so we could only have a quick tea and croissant. If it had been made clearer that our table had to be given up at the end of the slot that would have helped. I understand that there needs to be a staggered breakfast but I did rather feel that I had been told off!! Not good!
