  Disliked: Birthday Stay Spoiled by Pool Cleanliness Concerns and Dismissive Management We booked this hotel for a birthday celebration with 10-year-old girls, looking forward to enjoying the pool and nearby attractions within walking distance. Unfortunately, our experience was overshadowed by a serious concern about the pool’s cleanliness and the way our report was handled. At approximately 8:30 p.m., we found what appeared to be feces in the pool and immediately reported it to the front desk. The staff member laughed and apologized. When we contacted the manager, he told us that he would not close the pool to investigate until its scheduled closing time of 10 p.m. Concerned about the other swimmers, we returned to the pool, alerted them, and showed them what we had found. We also took photographs. We expected the pool to be closed the following morning, with information about sanitation and an estimated reopening time. Instead, we saw guests heading to the pool as we checked out and canceled our second night. The front desk told us that two people had checked the pool after closing and had found nothing. That response was incredibly frustrating. We had traveled from America and were paying more than $500 per night; this was not a concern we raised lightly. Someone should have accompanied us to the pool immediately when we reported the issue so that it could be verified and addressed promptly. Although this may have been an isolated incident, we found the response from both the front desk and management dismissive and inadequate. The lack of urgency and follow-up was deeply disappointing and left us concerned about how seriously guest concerns were being taken. We nearly skipped the prepaid breakfast included with our superior room because the pool incident had shaken our confidence in the hotel’s cleanliness standards. However, we did try the breakfast buffet, and it was delicious, as advertised.

  Liked: The room was nice and clean, the breakfast was excellent, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The location was great, and I really liked the overall style of the hotel

  Disliked: I wasn’t very happy with the swimming pool, as it was quite small and there were no adults-only swimming times. There were lots of children in the pool, and it was quite noisy with all the shouting. Having an adults-only time slot would have made the experience much more enjoyable

  Costed a lot but it was pretty much worth it! Cologne is a great spot

  Liked: Location was quite nice, the path from the hotel to the cathedral is packed with nice shops, cafes, bars, restaurants, and people. The hotel staff were accomdating and I have no real complaints about the room, other than a small stain on one of the curtains. Bathroom was excellent and clean.

  Disliked: The hotel is connected to other services in the same building. Some of these places are nice, just beware of the simracing room. It costs a lot and two players sitting side by side CANNOT play with each other.
